Im just guessing based on the Ridnour deal that Kahn is hoping Flynn plays well enough to get his value up to deal him by midseason or in the offseason. Otherwise it would be pointless to have Rubio,Flynn,Ridnour because even if you gave Flynn "6th man minutes" you'd still have Ridnour playing benchwarmer for 4 mill a season. I'm guessing J Fly will go bye bye
You and LordBaldric are having a different discussion than I am. My point was that had Rubio played last season, there would have been enough time for both he and Flynn as rookies, and likely the year after. No doubt in my mind. Which is why I don't think it is THAT big of a deal that Kahn picked both. One would have started, the other would likely have a big impact off the bench.
Rubio not coming over changed the plans, thus Kahn's Plan B,C,D, whatever. Ridnour is now here, Rubio is supposedly another year away from coming over. If/when Rubio comes over, one will be gone. Even still, I could see Rubio averaging 28-30 mpg his first season here, or wherever he plays. As flashy as he is, he'll still need to adjust to the NBA.
We keep hearing the Steve Nash comparisons. Nash's rookie year he averaged 10.5 mpg. 2nd year 21.9. 3rd year 31.9. In fact he has NEVER in his career averaged 36 mpg. The closest he has come was in his 10th year in the NBA.
I can agree with some of that. My point was Flynn shouldn't and I'm guessing won't be here next year when prince Rubio arrives. I agree that if Flynn was a bench player he would make a difference off the bench. My point (and I'm guessing lords was too) was that Flynn will be gone so Rubio who we're practically building our team for, will have more time to play. With Flynn here, he'd just be taking more minutes away from Rubio and what would be the point of playing Flynn so much if it's Rubio's team? Like Al, people would low ball us on Flynn for a potential trade because they know we have Ridnour and Rubio coming over just like Love,Beas,Darko,Pek. That's why I was guessing Flynn will be gone by midseason or offseason.
I don't get the Nash comparison. Nash didn't play alot because he wasn't that good his first few years. We are building this team/system so Rubio can take over. I wasn't the one who said play him 36 minutes a game either. If I were Rambis in 2011 (assuming Rubios here) I'd play Rubio 30-32 minutes a game to start. It's not an overload of minutes so he'll still be fresh and that way Ridnour still could get 15-20 minutes a game or so.
