POLL: RB Situation - What Would You Do?
Keep in mind we have to keep Nance on our roster 2 more weeks regardless of whether we make a trade.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: RB Situation - What Would You Do?
For the next few weeks, I'm okay taking a wait and see approach (with BJax) unless a phenomenal opportunity arises. We should be okay against the Bears and Lions, and I'd like to also see what Nance has to offer. If a good deal is on the table (say Fred Jackson or Barber for a 4th or later), pull the trigger, but I don't think we need to make an immediate trade, especially if it hurts depth elsewhere.

Re: RB Situation - What Would You Do?
This is a difficult question to answer by just the choices above.
I wouldn't mind trading for Lynch, so long as we didn't have to overpay for him. (I would do a 4th, but would absolutely refuse to give up anything more. I would even be a little upset if we had to give that up)
If we do nothing, I am still confident we can score with just about any team in the league. I would also like to see what Nance can do as I thought he looked okay on his two carries... But it is impossible to know how good someone is based on two carries. He didn't look hesitant to hit the hole at all.
That being said, I do think that RB is a bit of a concern. I would work out some free agents and see if Thompson can find someone serviceable that can run between the tackles.
I would also throw out the possibility of trading 5th-7th rounders for guys like Tashard Choice, Marion Barber, Bernard Scott or a one year rental type guy like Fred Jackson or Earnest Graham.

Re: POLL: RB Situation - What Would You Do?
The two things Buffalo needs (ok they need a lot more than 2 things) are OL and LB. But I'm not up for trading Hawk as we need all the depth we can get with the 3-4. Plus Hawk would be a one year rental for Buffalo, why would they want that? They aren't going to pay him $10 million next year. And OL is another position I don't want to trade away any depth.
We all know how much TT values picks. However, we will be getting a compensation pick for Kampmann. We won't know which round until after the season but we got a 5th last year for losing Collin Cole so from what I've read we are probably looking at a third for losing Kampman.

Contending teams, especially NFC contending teams, are not going to trade a starting caliber running back to the Packers for a 5th-7th round choice. Why would the Cowboys trade any of their running backs to the Packers when there is a chance they'll have to play us in playoffs (not to mention a regular season game later this year).
This is why the Bills are such a good trade partner. They aren't contending and they are in the AFC.

I didn't say that they would pull the trigger on the trades, did I?
All I said is that I would put the offers out there and see if someone bites.

Thanks. I would still trade a 4th, maaaaybe a 3rd for Lynch, but because I think he could be a long term player for us. Other than that, I'd probably wait and see what Starks can do.

Re: RB Situation - What Would You Do?
I think we make a move. I voted to bring in FA's because I think that is a wise first step. Our current Situation is not going to cut it over a17 week season. BJax is a fine 3rd down and emergency back, Kuhn is fine when they aren't expecting him to get the ball but if teams start keying in on these guys they are going to show what they really are which is a backup RB and a backup FB.
Say what you will about Grant he did just enough to open up the passing game. Without a threat to move the ball on the ground out "Great" Passing game and offense everyone raved about in the off season will sputter and it already has at times in the first two games against decent competition with Phila and not so great competition in Buffalo.
Bottom line is that we need to at least explore options. We have a real good team with an unknown shelf life. There is too much riding on this season for Ted to sit on his hands and stick to his plan. Although I don't agree with some of his moves or no moves I admire his disipline. His disiplne puts us in a good position to make a move at a time like this. Will he or wont he is the question. I think if he is stisfied with the current runing game he's a **** (Please Use More Appropriate Word) and if he does nothing here it will be felt for some time.

Re: POLL: RB Situation - What Would You Do?
If we weren't a legit SB contender I'd stand pat and wait it out.
It's still early as hell but the early signs IMO are pointing to the Packers and probably the Saints as the two main contenders in the NFC.
I'm gaining a ton of confidence in the idea that 1 of those 2 will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
So with that said I don't want to **** around and miss a great opportunity because our running game is mediocre.
I'd be willing to give up a 3rd for Lynch,I think for this season at least Lynch would be more valuable than anyone we would get with that pick.
And we are not talking about maybe a shot at a wild card here, this team is legit. But come January vs a team like the Saints we're going to need every advantage possible and not having a solid running game obviously won't help our chances.

BTW I'm not a fan of swapping Hawk for Lynch,I'd rather give up the draft pick for Lynch.
And I also like the idea of trading for Lynch because I feel Lynch could be our long term back and an upgrade over Grant.

Re: POLL: RB Situation - What Would You Do?
I'm not overpaying for anything still.
I'd see if Fast Willie Parker has anything left in the tank, bring him in for a workout and see how that goes. His name was the most intriguing of the free agents that I remember.
I'm still not paying more than a conditional 4th for Lynch and I'd still rather have Fred Jackson than Lynch. If we could get Lynch or Jackson for a 4th(can turn into a 3rd if we make the Super Bowl with him as starting RB or if he rushes for 1000+ yards(basically the production we would have gotten from Grant over the course of 14 games) then I would be okay with that.
If they honestly believe Nance can give them something then I'd also defer to their judgement. It did become clear though that BJackson and Kuhn are very good as complimentary backs but not the answer as full time starters.
This is all a concern for sure but we still are averaging 30+ PPG without a legit running game which is why I'm not willing to overpay.

Re: POLL: RB Situation - What Would You Do?
I agree with most people here... I voted for the Lynch trade.
Even though it was a blowout win, Brandon Jackson didn't exactly explode yesterday. There are some big games in the near future, the weather is only going to get worse and putting it all on the passing game could backfire.
Marshawn Lynch seems like a fit... GB seems like pretty good trade partners weather it's for a player, a pick(no higher than a 3rd, imo) or a combination of the two.
This "pass only" approach could hurt us with teams like Miami, Minny, NYJ, New England and any prospective playoff opponents.... It could also get Aaron Rodgers killed.

Re: POLL: RB Situation - What Would You Do?
I don't understand why people would rather have Jackson than Lynch, especially if we are giving up draft picks. Lynch could be a long term solution, Jackson likely wouldn't be. Jackson is a good RB, but I'd much rather go with the younger guy that will be able to contribute for a longer period of time.
I'd go up to a 3rd to get Lynch. Kampman's compensatory pick will be a 3rd or 4th so we'd still have a full set of picks for the draft. I'd rather trade a 3rd instead of trading a 4th and a player. We are going to need depth at CB, LB, and OL later in the year and I'd rather keep everyone we have now, even it means giving up a 3rd.

Re: POLL: RB Situation - What Would You Do?
The highest I would go:
4th round pick
escalates to a 3rd if we make the Super Bowl
escalates to a 2nd if we win the Super Bowl
All those conditions assuming Lynch is our starting RB. I wouldn't be thrilled about a trade like that and I doubt Ted would give up that much but if we had to give up the higher picks I wouldn't care because those are great milestones to have achieved. I think Buffalo would have to strongly consider a trade like that too.

Personally I don't see Buffalo getting interested unless it's a guaranteed third, assuming no other players/picks are involved. They have Lynch on the cheap for a while and they could probably get a 4th from a team at almost any point until his contract is up. they might as well wait a while to see if they can get a better offer.

That seems like a fair compromise to me, chuck. If we win the SB, I wouldn't give a **** if Lynch wasn't even a factor. The point is to win that thang. Everything else is peripherally important at best.

Re: POLL: RB Situation - What Would You Do?
The reason I give picks for Lynch is because I believe Lynch is a possible/probable 5 year answer at the position. It would be like drafting Lynch with the pick we give up. I know we've hit on some gems in the 3rd (most I'd give up) or 4th (preferred), but I wouldn't say the chances of that player being better than Lynch is over 50% by any means either. I think Lynch runs with power and he's a receiving threat.

I agree with this. That would be the most I would give up for him.
I would also give them Donald or Pat Lee along with it if they want either of them.
