Rambis Addresses the Triangle

He went out of his way to say he does not run the triangle offense and made a point to say he uses parts of offenses from Gregg Popovich and Rick Adelman and sounded like he wished he never used the word triangle. "That's all people hear," he said.

Two other interesting points from that article:

* Rookie Wesley Johnson is still bothered by that hamstring that kept him out of most of Las Vegas Summer League play. He said Johnson was supposed to get back on the court today but didn't sound certain if Johnson will be able to participate in camp fully.

and

* He said he didn't know if Michael Beasley is better suited to play 3 or 4, but sounded genuinely excited and convinced he'll be able to get the ball to Beasley in multiple spots on the floor and sounded confident that Beasley will be a guy who can give the ball and entrust he can get his own shot if needed.

Let's hope they keep Wes working on getting healthy. I would not like to see this linger into Reg. Season. It doesn't sound like Beasley is going to have to worry about not having any plays run for him here.

yeah thats a dam long time for what was believed to be a insignificant hamstring injury. they were saying they were just holding him out as a precaution, i think this sounds pretty dodgy, hope i'm wrong.

As someone who has done a hamstring injury before, it is a niggling injury that takes awhile to get back from.

Mine was a good 6 months untill I was fit and firing again. Now Wesley Johnson has the advantage on me in terms of both his pre-injury fitness (im assuming) and the medical facilities (I know his are better)/

BUt Hamstrings are annoying and many times you will feel allright and then go for a jog and tweak it and set yourself back another 2-3 days.

It is an injury that has no long-term effects but just takes months to heal.

It is a little worrying. At first they were expecting him to make it back in time for the last few summer league games and now it's STILL lingering? I don't think we can expect too much from him to start the season if he's missed this much time, especially if he misses the start of training camp.

I don't really care if he misses all of Training camp as long as he doesn't come back too soon and start the whole mess all over from scratch. If it's the kind of thing that just needs a lot of rest then, rest it.

It's not actually. What they've been saying is they want to be a running/up-tempo team. The reference to the Triangle came at the beginning of last year and even then, they said it wasn't used exclusively and was more of a learning tool. All along, I've thought people have been harping on the idea of the triangle too much... we want to be more like the Suns than the Lakers.

They want to be like the Showtime Lakers, not the present day Lakers (in style...I'm sure they'd take a championship any way it comes).

I think you are right but that part scares the hell out of me. As I have said before, I am not feeling this direction. Those teams never win the chip. I don't want to waste a decade vying for possible WCF appearances and nothing else.

As I said before, I have done my hamstring before and it is a long term injury rehab. However it does not have any long term effects so just sit the course rest, relax and lets get him 100% before we put him out on the court again.

I think this is more their focus, than trying to be the Suns. They wanna run but also respect the defensive end, unlike D'Antoni, who basically only sent his guys down there so they could have the opportunity to run back up the other way. Rambis & Co. seem committed to at the very least, field a squad with capable defenders, guys who are long, athletic and can distrupt an offense if they put the effort in.

Dissapointing about Wes. I hope he can make it into training camp because really that would be a big advantage for him...

Also love to hear that from Kurt. Maybe he will actually let Flynn play some pick and roll then...
