Blue Jays not leaving Las Vegas

Post#1 » by LittleOzzy » Mon Sep 20, 2010 11:03 pm

It can now be confirmed the Toronto Blue Jays ended up rolling snake eyes on any efforts to move their Triple-A affiliate out of Las Vegas.

The Houston Astros’ Monday announcement of a partnership with Oklahoma City left Toronto and Las Vegas as the only teams at their respective levels without appropriate partners.

Toronto and Las Vegas will continue a relationship that began after the 2008 season when Syracuse, N.Y., broke off its affiliation with the Blue Jays, one that dated to Toronto’s inception as a franchise in 1977.

Toronto had earlier attempted to make a deal with nearby Buffalo, but when that fell through, the organization was left with Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League.

While Blue Jays ownership is generally thought to be happy with its partners in Nevada from a business perspective, there are concerns about Las Vegas as a location for development.

Sounds like the Jays did everything they could to get out, but had few options.

From an athlete standpoint, living and playing in Las Vegas could be pretty tough for the weak willed. But I guess they are on the road alot in AAA ball.
That's what she said.

Good. Last thing we need is Snider shacking up in a hotel with Elizabeth Shue and drinking himself to death.

Return to Toronto Blue Jays
