New York happily announces two vet min signings

1. Juwan Howard - Though old, he can still play, and provides hustle and experience to the front line.

2. Mo Evans - Will help play and SF and SG position off the bench, and provide key wing depth.

The Raptors are very happy to announce the signings of Theo Ratliff and Rodney Carney.

Ratliff brings a great deal of experience and showed last season he's anything but done in terms of being able to contribute. As a starter last season he contributed with 5 points, 4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 21.5 minutes. He's still a presence defensively and can teach our young bigs a thing or two about blocking shots.

Rodney Carney really helps the athleticism of my bench. He's still fairly young and the influence of AP/Peja should really help him develop into a solid player in this league and not just rely on athleticism. However, I still really like him in terms of a guy with fresh legs that can come in and make an impact on the break or with solid quickness at the defensive end.

The Portland TrailBlazers have signed Mario Chalmers to an offer sheet (3yr / 11.88 mil)
3.67 / 3.96 / 4.25 is the yearly breakdown.

LaL has 24 hours to match the offer sheet or work out a S&T with Portland, Mario is thrilled with the chance to play for the defending Champs

The Raptors are extremely pleased to announce the signing of Derrick Williams.

Some Draft junkies tell me he could be pretty solid down the road - having to give him a roster spot over Singleton is no big deal since both will likely be playing in other leagues this season to get some more experience (if Williams proves himself, he'll get some minutes, otherwise he'll definitely see some time in the D-League). The SF-PF spots are a huge area of depth for us now, so hopefully we can develop these guys into solid players and either use them or keep them as assets for trades down the road.

Deal is as follows:

473,604 / 788,872 / 884,293

The New Orleans Hornets are pleased to announce the signing of Lavoy Allen to a 3 year deal, after his release from San Antonio (see the T&T thread)

Terms are as follows:

$473,604 / $788,872 / $884,293 (yr 3 unguaranteed).

Lavoy is currently projected as the 45th pick in the 2011 draft on DraftExpress. He is a solid, good passing PF, with a good handle, and good rebounding awareness. Although he will not contribute immediately, we hope under the guidance of Tim Duncan and Pau Gasol, he will develop into a serviceable role player for the future.
There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.
