If Amir or Bargnani get hurt we've got Reggie Evans starting for us. Scary thought.

Davis is really gonna be out of shape though for this whole year though I'm thinking. He couldn't lift weights for the majority of last year because of his wrist injury. And now he's going to not be able to lift because of this. The middle of the year isn't any time to put weight on.

Why would he not be able to lift?

If anything his gym workout are going to increase for the next 6 weeks. When Oden hurt his knee he actually spent too much time working out and got too big.

Davis will benefit from 6 weeks of upper body specific lifting.

The focus should be on resting it as much as possible and not rushing back.

And the tank rolls on. Even if it is "inadvertent tanking".

I really hate these kind of injuries. Just gives me the feeling it'll be a long term re occuring thing.

Well he could do certain upperbody lifts. But he can't do a lot of the lifts that help with explosivness. Cleans, hang cleans, squats, deadlifts, plyo's etc.... It's not like 6 weeks of some curls, and bench press are going to help his basketball game, lol.

He is a post player and working his back, chest, core and arms certainly won't be a bad thing. There are also a number of machines for isolating lower body parts that he will probably be able to do. Its lot like he is a well developed guy right now. He could stand to add 10-20 pounds in his upper body right now

When does Nate Jawai get back from injury??

But in all seriousness, this really sucks. Not about where he got injured, but just the fact he got injured. He could very end up being made of glass. Sure hope not.

And you know, after seeing Oden and Griffin missing full seasons, nothing surprises me anymore.

Its sucks but its liveable. So there are 36 weeks left till the beginning of the season? So he'll be back after the first 1-2 weeks of the season. He'll definately be out of shape and what might not see him playing full minutes till December. I'm not too worried, the team can afford to wait for Ed Davis. We going to lose with him or without him ...

I really don't know where you are coming from.

He could've worked out his upper body anyways..... and not experience atorphy to his legs at the same time. Any gain that he has in his upper body is going to be offset by the lack of leg work and cardio. Also these guys are trying to create functional stregth/size. A lot of exersizes for that require you to use your legs in one way or another. Working on beach muscles with some isolating machines isn't going to help much.

Him not being able to work out properly is definitly a negative here.

Its not the negative you are making it out to be. And why would making gains in upper body size/strength be negated by 6 or less weeks of not working legs.

All I am saying is we have a guy who needs to put on more muscle who now has to spend the next 4-6 weeks focusing on what excersices he can do.Which is core and upper body, so its possible that in the short runthis injury is going to let him focus on some of the areas that don't normally get him during training camp.

So basically you think he's going to be in better shape during his 1st game back if he has this injury then his 1st game if he didn't have an injury?

It negates it because he'll loose his strengths in his legs, and supporting muscles. Base strength is important for big men,.

Minor injury nothing toget excited about.
He was in great shape during the summer and yes he will need to get stamina back.
But this isn't a Hedo situation out of shape and no desire.
