OT, but is Ed Davis really taller than Amir Johnson?

6-9 just seems small for Amir. Could this be outdated?

Hopefully he recovers fully. Was looking forward to seeing him play. I'm gonna think positively. It's all apart of the path to a good team. Yeah, yeah, everything is going to be fine. My support of losing
Canadian basketball franchises will one day pay off. hehe, seriously though hope he's ok.

It negates it because he'll loose his strengths in his legs, and supporting muscles. Base strength is important for big men,.

1st game back no... Obviously its going to take some time to get his legs back and get in game shape. But do I think that 20 games in he going to be in better shape than if he didn't get injured....

I'm pretty sure Johnson grew after entering the NBA and is actually closer to 6'11.

Sorry I don't think I understand your point. Are you saying he was already injured and the Raps knew?

Just think of it like this, at least he's not out for the season like Blake Griffin and Greg Oden in there rookie year -- but still it sucks, hopefully he has a speedy recovery 6 weeks aint that long lol.

The updated title of this thread is misleading. The Raptors announced Davis will return to "basketball related activities" within six weeks (meaning: six weeks at the latest). The thread stating "out for at least 6 weeks" implies that six weeks would be the earliest Davis returns.

almost all of the players in the league play pick up ball during the summer, just sucks that our guy got hurt.

this could really **** up his season ..... 6 weeks before he can go back on the court and then lets add in another at least 2-3 to work his way back onto the roster ...... season will be in full swing and he'll be out of shape.

v v bad timing but oh well, hopefully this won't be a lingering thing all year.

i couldn't fit the crux of what you're saying into the updated title.

he will be unable to take part in ball-related activities for up to 6 weeks. so realistically he won't be suiting up for a game for around 2 months (assuming that he does take 6 weeks to recover).

so yeah...come up with something that says he'll be out for 1-12 weeks depending on his recovery, and i'll edit the title again

"Ed Davis out 1-12 weeks pending recovery"?? And shouldn't it be 8 weeks, you know, 4 weeks a month? hahaha sorry, just felt like bustin' your balls Yogi.

Not surprised that this 'little' injury has now become a fairly major thing. Remember last year when the club said Reggie's injury was minor and short term. Missed most of the year.

You never get the full story on the injury up front.

Its a major setback for Ed after missing so much of his college season too. You do have to wonder if his body will stand up to the nba grind. Some people just don't have the durability in their joints and tendons to do this for a living. Just genetics I guess. There is a legit risk he could be one of them although way too early to jump to that conclusion

That sucks, but I guess it could have been worse. The really bad thing about it is he is a rookie and missing all that training time is likely to hinder his learning curve and he may now have a harder time cracking the lineup. This probably sets him back quite a bit more than six weeks in terms of getting quality PT.

Goddammit!!! He was one of the players I was really looking forward to watching the most this year. I really hope that this really is a minor thing and that he`s able to get back in 6 weeks. But they definitely won`t be rushing him back if they can help it.

Yep that happened last year with Bosh too. Something about his knee bothering him or his face broken but really he was just developing a vagina and there were pains too much to bear. I don't know why they didn't just tell us the truth in the beginning.

Realistically we could see him back by the end of November, missing 12 to 15 games. For a rookie, this has to be very discouraging. Training camp and preseason are crucial to allowing them to learn the ropes before starting their careers on an NBA level. Dorsey will have every opportunity to show he belongs now.

It is sometimes difficult to predict whether a player will be injury prone in his career. It seems that other GMs made this decision resulting in Davis falling into our hands. Time will tell but its not a promising start.

It’s difficult because it’s impossible.

Kobe averaged around 70 games a season in his first couple years but now he’s an iron man. Vince missed a lot of games in Toronto but has had a pretty good attendance each year afterwards.

I think being well-conditioned has a lot to do with preventing injuries (see: Dwight, LeBron, Kobe now), but there are a lot of freak injuries in basketball.
