No offense taken.

The original artwork and the entire Kings marketing is based upon graffiti art. It originated as a subculture of hip hop. That's what I did. I stopped doing it before I was ever good enough to paint characters (people) but that was my next thing. Not all graffiti is gang/hate affiliated. Tagging is/was a sport. There is even a tagging video game (Gettin' Up). You just don't buy a spray can and go to town. There is an art to it. We (people who I used to tag with) would have art sketch pads and we'd draw all day. It's very much addicting (writing on things). You're actually starting to see kids like this in performing art schools where they can use their talents to good use and get proper recognition. This ad campaign is a great example of it.

In any event it's a disgrace to write over someone's work in general let alone make it a political hate crime. I think we all agree the act wasn't called for, necessary, and we're not going to tolerated it. We do not agree on the level of sensitivity or attention that should be brought to the matter. I just want to make the distinction here. The fact we all see it as a problem and don't condone it is positive. Those who voiced their opinion have not only been heard, but represented others who are too scared to speak up. Maybe in future conversations more people will have a voice and raise their concerns as well. That, for me, was the point of the thread.
KANGZZZZZ!
