I hope he can just be productive... At least be an avg small forward who can knockdown the open shot and defend his position reasonably well.

Interesting take. Well sorry to say but the stats are meaningless. The reason why RJ had one of his worst years is well he had to share the ball with 4 other players who can put up big numbers on any given night. If there's one thing you should never do it's to judge a Spurs player on his stats because they never tell the whole picture. I must say that RJ was a bad defensive player and I don't know if that was due to lack of effort or inability, but other than that I was fine with what RJ provided. In fact Duncan himself wasn't playing up to his ability defensively and that sort of "apathy" can be infectious. I really hope Splitter lives up to the hype because part of me believes that the Spurs sort of gave up knowing that they couldn't win a title last season.

Spurs fans, please see the silver lining here. More minutes for the much more motivated and IMO better James Anderson!

Anderson is a 2. RJ is a 3.

With the lack of backup SF on this team, it's not out of the question that we see James Anderson play SF. Physically, he's bigger than Manu or Bogans (our backup SFs last year).

I think you'll be surprised by how good he'll do at sf.

Anything that potentially eats into RJ's minutes is fine with me. I'm looking forward to seeing how Anderson goes.

Re: Can He Bounce Back? Richard Jefferson
I'm just hoping RJ gets more consistent. I expect his numbers to be same. Hopefully his rebounding is up and I sure hope we don't play RJ at PF as much as last year. That is not a good lineup to see at all. We have a lot of bigs we need to play this year and the perimeter lacks proven players. There's no reason why RJ see as much minutes at PF.
