Udrih Projected to Start. . . Rest of Lineupe and Minutes?

Now that we know Beno is projected to start I wonder what people think the rest of our starters will be and more specifically who's going to be getting minutes. Beno and Tyreke are the only sure starters with the SF battle between Greene and Cassapi PF battle between Thompson and Landry and C between Dalembert and Cousins. So whos going to start? Although I think Cousins will start either at PF or C eventually I say our best lineup now is:

Udrih/ Evans/ Jeter
Evans/ Garcia/ Wright
Cassapi/Greene/ Wright
Landry/ Thompson/ Whiteside
Dalembert/ Cousins/ Whiteside

Udrih
Evans
Greene
Landry
Dalembert

I see starting first, maybe Casspi later in the year.

What I want to see at least eventually is-

Evans
Udrih
Greene
Thompson
Cousins

Greene can be swapped for Casspi, but I'm set on the other starters. I really see Landry best used as our main offensive weapon off the bench, and he'll have a bigger advantage against the other team's second string. Our big rotation will mostly consist of time between Cousins/Thompson/Landry. Dalembert's role should be limited to just situations where defense is required, and Whiteside, I think most of us agree that he isn't quite ready yet for a big role. If he develops, then obviously somebody will be traded or let go as their isn't enough time for 5 bigs.

I guess our main guard coming off the bench is either Garcia or Head. This is definitely the weakest spot on the team. I think we'll hardly see both Evans and Udrih sitting at the same time, depending on how well Garcia/Head/Sloan(?) run the team.

Westphal likes to tinker a bit and try a lot of things, so we'll see what happens. Who knows, we might see Cousins at PG  .

Beno really earned the starting spot last season, unless we get a big upgrade, you can expect him to be our starting pg

Evans
Casspi
Landry
Dalembert

Minutes by position:

C: Dalembert(20), Cousins(22), Whiteside(6)
PF: Landry(28), JT(20)
SF: Greene(26), Casspi(22)
SG: Beno(21), Garcia(19) Head(8)
PG: Reke(35), Beno(3), Pooh(10)

When Reke and Beno are both on the floor, theres no PG & SG, theres just 2 guards. They alternate taking the ball up the court, while Reke gets more touches. Reke will defend the better scoring guard on the other team. Beno gets the 3 min at the point when Reke is on the bench. I think Whiteside should get the last 4-6 min in the 2nd quarter.

Dalembert
Cousins
Casspi
Beno
Tyreke

This line just makes the most sense to me.

I like this one.

I see Landry coming from the bench eventually. Landry's game is much suited as a dynamic sixth man. The reason why I want Dalembert in the starting lineup is that he will provide a defensive presence and rebounding prowess down low. And if you guys watched the SL, Dalembert will play similarly like Whiteside i.e. weakside blocks if Cousins gets burned by his man.

Casspi or Greene should have a strong hold at the 3 position once either of them prove to be worthy starting.

And Tyreke and Beno are locks at the backcourt.

Yeah, he really stepped his game up last year. That and it was pretty much instantly apparent from early on in the season that he and Tyreke are really comfortable together. I still like the idea of Garcia and Evans though. Whatever looks best on the court will be the likely route rotation wise I'm sure.

Gosh I hope Whiteside and Cousins get acclimated to the NBA quickly because I really think the future of our frontcourt lies with them.

I too would like to see Garcia start next to Tyreke. For the sole purpose that it makes our bench that much better and adds very good depth. Garcia can play better defense and hustles plenty, while Beno can shoot with much more efficiency and he takes better shots. But, I don't mind Beno starting he can handle the ball and is a pretty decent passer.

Udrih
Evans
Greene
Cousins
Dally

thats the best lineup. Casspi, Garcia, Thompson, Landry as full rotational players. Whiteside and Jeter get spot minutes.

I would say Landry but I would almost bet the house that he wont be back next year. He will want big money that we wont spend on a rotational player. He will end up in Indiana close to his home with a decent pay day. Mark my words.

In order to be serious playoff contenders we need an upgrade in the backcourt to play with Reke. Beno is a perfect bench role player. We also need either Casspi or Greene to establish themselves as a legitimate playoff starter or we need to find a SF as well. Our frontcourt of Dally, Cousins, JT, and Whiteside is set for years. I bet we keep Dally unless we get a rediculous offer at the deadline. If not we will resign him for way less but he will continue to start and play Goalie while Cousins abuses people.

Antoine Wright is going to get more minutes than Head. I think he'll get 20-25 a game, alternating by need at SG and SF.

Neither will be getting anything remotely close to that. Both will likely just be injury insurance. All of the SG/SF minutes will be taken up by Evans/Garcia/Casspi/Greene.

So, I've noticed some interesting things so far. First of all there have 10 lineupes submitted from different people so far. At the 3 positions still up for grabs (SF, PF, C) here are the trends:

At SF Donte Green has a slight advantage as starting on 6/10 lineups.

At PF Landry is the clear favorite to start with 6/10 compared to 2/10 for Thompson and 2/10 for Cousins.

At C Dalembert is the clear starter with 8/10 compared to only 2/10 for Cousins.

If I could have it my way:

Evans
Udrih
Greene
Thompson
Cousins

or maybe

Cousins
Dally

Evans
Udrih
Greene
Thompson
Dally

and I think that would be the best line up until Cousins proves he can start then sub him for Dally

Return to Sacramento Kings
