Getting Melo

Post#1 » by Benzo36 » Wed Sep 22, 2010 8:49 pm

How about Kaman, Gordon and Aminu and our Pick next year to the Nuggz for Melo and Afflalo(starting 2)? Sign Oberto, Josh Boone

What about:
Aminu, Bledsoe, Minny 1st, Clipp's 2011 -1st and 10 million.

Why would the Clips invite Jon Schyer to Camp if they aren't anticipating getting rid of a guard or two?

We wouldn't wanna give up our PG of the future, we signed Collins today as a Center. How is Gordon better than Melo, more clutch than Melo or make us more competitive than Melo. Afflalo is fine for a year or two. Kamans salary is needed for trade to happen.

Just because Schyer got an invite doesn't mean he's going to make the team. We'll see what happens after the pre season. I'm not sure we're going to get Melo since I don't want to give up Gordon or Griffin.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

I don't even know how much I want Melo anymore. I wouldn't give up Griffin or Gordon first of all, then I'm not sure I would even give up the Minnesota pick. The Wolves can and will likely improve between now and then, but 2012 can be a very good draft. Not everyone that is slated to come out in 2011 will with the impending lockout. There are a lot of nice prospects in that draft that would benefit us to add.

Again who says give up Griffin, please read the post. Guys on here are always saying how we don't stand a chance. It's because we don't take chances. Carmelo is a top a5-7 player who gets buckets and is as clutch as the come. EG is not that, he is a very good player. It's like saying U wouldn't trade Danny Ainge for an in his prime Dr.J or Dominique Wilkins. We will be a servicable center away From primetime w/2 franchise players. Then bring in Tyson Chandler next Summer. Chandler, Griffin, Melo, Afflalo, Baron Davis. Bledsoe, Foye, Butler, Gomes, DJ. Hmmm

I said that I would not give up Griffin or Gordon, and I'm leaning toward not wanting to give up the Minnesota pick. In other words, having a player like Melo would be great, but nobody else is giving up a king's ransom to get him. Why should we? The Bulls aren't willing to give Noah. The Nuggets supposedly don't care for a Gallinari package that includes Curry's expiring and Wilson Chandler. Melo apparently doesn't want to extend with the Nets. IMO it wouldn't serve the best interests of the Nuggets to take on players like Martin (Houston) or Deng when their goal would be to re-build.

I firmly believe that Melo is a top 8-12 player and would be a valuable player to have on the team. The thing is that it's not Gordon for Melo (who I definitely wouldn't compare to Dr. J); it's Gordon, an all-star center (replacement or not he deserved the recognition), a lottery pick and a future first rounder. That's a lot to give up and I don't think that would make us contenders. Melo is not going to agree to a trade that is going to limit the team that he joins. Kobe didn't want to go to the Bulls if they were going to take away all of their best players. Melo is going to have similar feelings about where he goes.

Kaman is who they like(Nuggz), Gordon is the young talent and I said our(Our Pick) , not Minny's. They're not talking w/o a young prospect. U have to give to get. In today's NBA Melo is Dominique or Bernard King(pure scorer) unlike Gordon who is Danny Ainge, Jeff Hornacek or Byron Scott, very good but not in Melos class. There r centers to be had at the deadline. U must like the idea of being mediocre. We have a helluva bench, and 2 franchise players and you're crying over Gordon.

From all reports, it seems if we give up Gordon we have a deal. Aminu could eventually be our Odom at backup 3/4. All I'm saying we play many close games and we need am Alpha Dog type player to take/make big shots and generally keep us in Games.

Which Collins did we sign as a center? I can't find anything about the signing.
Bledsoe is going to be good, I don't think he will be great. I think Willie Warren playing w/ one of his best friends & former College team mate ( Blake G) could be a sleeper.
I think Gordon is untouchable right now. After his SUMMER, he deserves the chance to lead this team.
If Denver really wants Young talent give them Bledsoe, Aminu, De Andre Jordan (poor man's version of the wiz's Javelle Mcgee) a first rounder & some cash.

B. Diddy / Gordon / Melo / Kaman / Griffin
Bench : Foye+Smith+Butler+ Warren + Gomes+ Schyer (shooter, upgrade from Novak)
Not a bad start! OOOps forgot Brian Cook

Jarron Collins was signed yesterday. Also salaries have to match so your proposed deal doesn't qualify. We could be the second/third best team in the West w/a young stacked roster and you're seriously trying to hold on to EG with whom we'd be lucky to make eigth. Logic says go got the big move now when we have what they want. I've been a fan since 1988 and it boggles my mind how clueless the front office is. Find a center at the deadline. Chandler, Lopez(PHX), Mullens(OKC), Oden, E.Curry, Dalembert, etc...

Yeah, I like Gordon. It took me a while to like him at 21 years old , I think his future is bright. Dumblevy was smart to play Gordon at the 1 & 2, Gordon is Comfortable w/ the Ball in his hands and I think he maybe the point of the future.
I would rather loose Kaman than loose Gordon. What Gordon gained in experience this past summer will garner the Clips 5 extra wins this season. Jarron Collins is an older version of Jordan, both C- players, we will need to get another Center.

Melo dominated the 08 Olympics(2nd leading scorer). I like Gordon, but w/Afflalo(12-15ppg) playing w/this Group all we need is a defensive minded rebounder who keeps the opposing big man occupied. Dalembert, Chandler and Robin Lopez should top our list.

Not a big Affalo fan but, maybe you see something in him I don't.

I agree w/ you that if Melo will come & sign w/ the Clips we should sweeten the pot & make it happen. I just don't want to give up too much

I like EJ a lot. I was at the world championship, and I jumped in air every time he knocked down a three.

But, if EJ could land us Carmelo and he is willing to resign, I say go for it. Only problem you have to include Baron or Kaman to match salaries, and that doesn't look like a possible trade.

If Denver doesn't trade him until Dec. 15 we might have a shot with Aminu+Gomes+Bledsoe+Minny pick. I would include our pick too. I think draft picks is more useful as a trade chip.
