2011 Early draft talk

Post#1 » by Vindicater » Thu Sep 23, 2010 10:38 pm

Because I am bored :)

So who are some targets for next years draft this early on. These are five players who I am interested in who I think we could pick up depending on our position in the draft. (with our numerous picks)

Jan Vesely -

Obvious choice for us. He would look great at the SF spot and if Johnson pans out well at SG and Rubio comes over we could have a scary size advanatge with a starting five of Rubio/Johnson/Vesely/Love/Darko

C.J. Leslie -

This guy will be a one year and out college guy. He is an athletic freak who is a high risk/high reward type project at the small forward spot.

Tyshawn Taylor

Another point guard!!! Yes, and hes a damn good one. He was a guy I wanted us to look at last year but he pulled out. He is a defensive terror and has the athletic ability to take the ball to the rack. He is turnover prone however but that can be worked on. I think he would be a better 2nd PG than FLynn and would allow us to move the more valuable flyn for something else we need.

Bojan Bogdanovic

Good offensive swingman who is worth stashing overseas for another 2-3 years as a second round pick. Has some interesting skills.

Will Coleman

We all know this guy, undersized worker who falls to the 50's in the draft and then sticks on a team and is a solid 9th or 10th man who affects some games with his hustle and attitude.
"That's why the last two years weren't guaranteed," Walsh said. "Either way, he knew it could have happened either way."

The only name I care about is Harrison Barnes
APkrawczynski Jon Krawczynski
Durant just said Darko is one of best centers in the league. For once, I'm not being sarcastic in a tweet. #Twolves

Agreed. If we don't get Barnes we should trade the pick.

I agree as well. Not just because Barnes is the only good player, but because I'm not sure others would be a good fit here for where they'd be drafted.

Going through the current DX mock:
1. Barnes - Will be the #1 pick.
2. Perry Jones - Looks to be an amazing athlete, but plays a position we're loaded at.
3. Jan Vesely - Talented for sure, but I'm not convinced he'll be an NBA small forward.
4. Jonas Valanciunas - Who?
5. Jared Sullinger - I hope we never talk about him. Has bust written all over him IMO.
6. Donatas Montiejunas - Don't need another PF.
7. Josh Selby - A 6'1" shooting guard. We already have one named Jonny Flynn.
8. Jeff Taylor - Looks decent, but not worth a lottery pick.
9. Kyrie Irving - Another undersized combo guard.
10. Mason Plumlee - dencent, but not what we need.

"With the ? pick the Timberwolves select Fab Melo out of Syracuse... This is the 3rd year in a row the Wolves have selected someone from Syracuse with their first pick"

Barnes just stands out cause he would be the player that could turn this franchise around

He could be someone to keep an eye on, but I've heard he'll be a project big.

Can you imagine an offseason of Rubio AND Barnes!

I think we would be foolish to trade out of the 2011 draft. If most players declare it seems a lot deeper than the 2010 draft. There's a number of guys I like Harrison Barnes, Perry Jones, Enes Kanter, Jan Vesely or Jared Sullinger.

While it's true that we probably need to add win now pieces next offseason I wouldn't necessarily say that we should trade our pick for those.

At the least, it's premature to talk about trading the pick. Let's at least see these guys play some college basketball.

Please don't encourage Kahn to trade.

That's definitely not going to be the case.

Nobody talking about Alec Burks? I think he could be a sleeper guy that may really crawl up the big boards. 6'6 shooting guard from Colorado. Has a good shot, but it's not consistent(only a sophmore), great athlete, little skinny though.

Reminds me of Sylven Landesberg. At this point we have enough young players and should only be concerned with landing a franchise talent.

I've always considered 2011 as the year we are supposed to get everything sorted it out. Unfortunately it's a draft class loaded with power forwards and now we're already discussing trading the picks. I know some guards should emerge just because we're evaluating high school players, but I'm not too optimistic.

I don't want to say we are entitled to lottery luck, but we never got to draft a top two pick. Please draft gods, we have traded for Beasley and Milicic, what else do you want us to do? What's that...you want us to sacrifice Sasha?
