He is Jason Thompson's brother. They both went to Rider University.

From what I seen, he can have a spot in the NBA if he plays within his strengths well enough. He is a cerebral player. What I mean by that he does not play uncharacteristically. A very consistent, solid guy. Can make plays for himself and others. Pretty good shooter in general.

I think if utilized right, Sloan is gonna love him.

I hope he does well but are the Jazz really going to go with 14 players to start the season. If they do go with 14, then I assume they cut one player during the season prior to the contract being guaranteed.

Having 14 players seems to be what the Jazz like to do. It leaves one spot open, and the Jazz can always put him down in the D-League.

But if you get a guy who can contribute while making less than $500,000 a year, he pays for himself 5 times over. It's a pretty low risk contract.

Exactly, that's what I was thinking too, he sets up and shoots the ball a bit slow. He is a bit slow for a PG and seems a bit short for a two guard, but it might work. The Jazz do need a SG so I hope he gets better on his outside shot.

Thanks for highlight reel by the way.

He's 6'5 flat without shoes... .25 inches taller than Jason Richardson and .25 inches shorter than Brandon Roy.

They would still have an open roster spot so I don't think anyone would be released.

Thompson can fill the roster pretty well: he plays the 2-3 spot, seems coachable, has upside, ad, more important if you're already over the tax, is really cheap.

Ah, right now he's no Wes, by far.
