Dampier or Fesenko - Fesenko to sign w/ Jazz

Post#1 » by x- » Tue Sep 21, 2010 3:04 pm

So the Rockets have met with both Erik Dampier and Kyrylo Fesenko over the last few days.
Dampier appears to be their first option, as they already have offered him a contract worth the BAE (2years/$4.3mil).

Dampier of course is the better player as of right now, but he's also 12.5 years older (35) than Fesenko (23) and while I don't really see the need for either one, I probably wouldn't mind either one of them.

Which one would you rather have?

EDIT: Thinking about it I really don't want Dampier in a Rockets uniform.

Getting word Fesenko has passed on HOU offer and will sign one-year deal with UTAH worth just over 1 mil and be in Jazz camp tomorrow

I'm cool with whatever Morey chooses to do.

I do so hate the Mavs & Jazz, tho. Hate them mightily.

Neither. Would rather see Hill take what is left of the 5 spot minutes.

fesenko...i hate the jazz more than i hate the mavs or the spurs(which is alot) but i want a young center on this team

i kno dampiers better but we need some youth at center since yao wont play much and millers old so we dont know how another year will affect him especially playing big time minutes when yao doesnt play at all

fesenko is a rfa so utah will prob match it. dampier will go to miami so good for them. fesenko is this years gortat. hell be overpaid and be mediocre. dampier is just good for 6 fouls a game. thats about it.

'Cept Gortat is above average. He's just stuck in a low usage backup role.

ill take dampier, he is a veteran who can contribute. fesenko is just a big body to stand there and i wouldn't give him no more than 10 minutes in any given night. he's there to give fouls.

Erick Dampier actually has gone through meet-and-greet process, and it now appears as if his signing is imminent, if not already done.

... with the Heat that is, obviously.

EDIT:
Erick Dampier visiting Miami but has not agreed to deal. NBA source said Damp still considering Houston and Denver, hopes to make call tom.

Despite visit to Miami, no decision from Erick Dampier today, league source says. Houston and Denver still in mix, but Heat have edge.

If Dampier signs with the Heat it's possible they will cut or trade Dexter Pittman since they already also have Zydranus Ilgauskas, Joel Anthony and Jamaal Magloire under contract at center and they have Chris Bosh, Juwan Howard and Udonis Haslem at power forward.

Pittman is a big body and he's from Houston. He was the 32nd overall pick in the draft and signed a 3 year deal with them on July 16. I think he'd be worth a future 2nd rounder. The Rockets haven't had any Texas Longhorns make the final roster (though Gabe Muoneke came close in 2003)

Heat roster
1. D Wade
2. L James
3. C Bosh
4. Z Ilgauskas
5. M Chalmers
6. U Haslem
7. C Arroyo
8. J Anthony
9. M Miller
10. J Howard
11. E House
12. D Butler
13. J Magloire
14. J Jones
15. E Dampier?

I'd take a chance on Pittman if he were cut (no pun intended). It'll probably come down to him and Magloire if the Heat sign Dampier.

Anyways:
Sources say Dampier choice is really only down to Miami and Houston.
Fesenko waiting on word, as Rockets and Cleveland (and Jazz, of course) have shown interest in him. Should all be resolved by the weekend.
There are clear indications that the Heat have the lead in the Dampier sweepstakes, though.

http://twitter.com/samickAOL
The odds that center Kyrylo Fesenko receives a restricted offer from another NBA team before camp begins next Tuesday are 50-50, a league source said Thursday.

For the third-year player to accept the deal, the deal would have to be a multi-year contract worth about $2 million per year at the least. Still, the Jazz are expected to match the offer unless the average money is unexpectedly high, and Fesenko will relinquish his unrestricted status next season if he signs a multi-year deal.

Two teams could still make a play for Fesenko during the next 48 hours, with Houston at the top of the list.

Dexter could be another Kendrick Perkins.

Wanted us to grab Pittman with a 2nd rounder... hope we make a legit run for him if Dampier signs with the Heat.

A 2 week injury to our backup center isn't enough to justify trading for a replacement though.

Miller is the starter, Yao is the backup
our starter is out
our backup can't play too much
another reason why we are looking for a 3rd center

Well Hayes did start for us last year and he is in the rotation.

His initials are ED, which is this condition that affects "a certain part of the male anatomy", according to Jimmy Johnson and his infomercials.

People used to call Brendan Haywood "Brenda"

jimmy johnson, male anatomy, ED

i dont give a **** wat his initials are. only things i care about is if his contract is no more than 4mil, he's productive with w/e minutes he gets, doesnt get injured, warms up yao's seat on the bench, and agrees to be called Erika. he does that, then i'll tolerate him to the lowest extent.

"hey i blocked a shot, did you see that?"

"good job, now get the **** out of here"
