I hope only this is not real... Diaw don't improve by any means what AK give us. And he will return cheap next season.

The only thing that makes sense in this trade is us getting under the salary cap. Why would we want to trade AK for Boris Diaw? Makes no sense unless another trade is in the works.

Maybe the Nuggets will release AK and he will resign with us?

that's the ONLY thing I can think of why we would do this.. AK being a good guy and coming back.. with a new deal? (I'm not sure how that works). That WOULD make sense.. and would be a huuuuge KOC rabbit out of the hat pull there but.. I just.. someone else who understands how that works chime in because that's the only reason why the Jazz do it.

A.K. would actually go to the Nuggets with Favors.
George Karl is an A.K. fan.

BAD, BAD deal for the Jazz in my opinion.

If the FO does this, they will ruin what has been one of the most pleasant off seasons for Jazz fans in recent memory. Please God, no.

Sorry guys. That is an awful deal, don't know why they'd move Andrei at this point.

... for Diaw, :o .

Dont quite understand how this would work since Diaw is only getting 9 mil/season. Utah would have to get something else in exchange for AK's contract.

Not if Charlotte and New Jersey can absorb the contracts without going over the cap.
Utah gets a serviceable big and gets back under the cap.

Diaw's 9 mil a year compared to kirilenko's 17 mil a year. Plus Diaw played in 82 games last year. Kirilenko hasnt done that in forever.

Sounds like Bull Crap to me.

Kirilenko >> Diaw

Why would the Jazz do this?

Not sure how it would work under the CBA, since Diaw makes half as much as Kirilenko. Not to mention:

Kirilenko >> Diaw

Why would the Jazz do this?

As stated above, if NJ or Charlotte can absorb the extra cap hit they do not have to return equal value. So the question is, by trading AK for Diaw do we miss out on $8mil worth of talent (not counting luxury tax savings)

The Jazz right now are a below average defensive team with not a lot of athleticism at the wing positions. Losing Brewer, Matthews, and Kirilenko in less than a year, and picking up Diaw doesn't help with that situation.

I dont think I buy into the deal as reported. Probably just rumors at this point. We gain absolutely nothing by trading AK for Boris Diaw.

I didn't expect a salary dump this early on and still don't. This deal won't happen.

Yeah, no way KOC is stupid enough to trade AK this early when his value will be sky high come February. Dude is in a contract year, and he's gonna play like it.

I hate the trade, but can easily see it happening. KOC's compromise with the Millers in recognition of how they opened up their wallets to get Al and Raja. The logic is probably, "he's not as good as AK, but he'll do, and it's the right business decision."

Doesn't change how much I hate it as a fan, though.

Hollinger reporting it to be a $13 million dollar tax savings for the Jazz unless more players are added.

I could criticize the loss of talent all day, but I'm not the one footing the bill. If the talent edge that AK has over Diaw isn't worth that much to the Millers/KOC, then that's that.

AK hasn't been this valuable in a long time. He'll play well because it's a contract year and he's a huge expiring contract. If this deal is being considered it has to be because draft picks are being sent our way.
