NBA expands rules on technicals

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Sat Sep 25, 2010 2:09 am

Referees have been instructed to call a technical for:

• Players making aggressive gestures, such as air punches, anywhere on the court.

• Demonstrative disagreement, such as when a player incredulously raises his hands, or smacks his own arm to demonstrate how he was fouled.

• Running directly at an official to complain about a call.

• Excessive inquiries about a call, even in a civilized tone.

Josh should set a modern day record for techs. This season will really test his maturity.
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

If he gets a couple early then he'll probably learn. They need to enforce the rule in the preseason so everyone is aware of how they are going about this rule.

It can be a good rule, but only if it's applied for all players, Star or not, because if some of the best can still protest like that without getting technical, it will just be an very bad rule.

You know it won't. Bron will get hit and think he should have been fouled, will complain and nothing will be done of it.

Josh definitely would be affected, but he isn't the only whiner. If calling it tighter is applied to Tim Duncan then it will be worth it. We'll see if that happens. On the bright side if they really cracked down on whining it might level the playing field for Joe and Marvin who rarely complain. Maybe they'll get a few more calls in this.
