the year KOC ruined the Jazz
First the jazz draft Elder Hayward, a guy with very limited lateral movement instead of Larry Sanders.
Now a trade of AK for Diaw. Bad, very bad. If this trade goes down the Jazz lose at least 5 more games than last year. Check the per stats between Boris and AK. Its not even close. That was before Diaw discovered french pastries and became the pillbury diawboy over the summer.
Say it with me people. Say No to Diaw.
We want Gerald Wallace if we are going to trade AK.

I see a lot of people frustrated with us getting Diaw, but why would Denver want AK in the first place?

While I too am deeply opposed to trading AK for Diaw, you kind of lost all credibility the moment you suggested the Jazz should've taken Larry Sanders with the 9th pick.

Because AK's expiring + Favors + 1st is better than just Melo's expiring? It's not like AK is crap either. He'll probably do well in Denver and I wouldn't be surprised if the Nuggets end up re-signing him.

It will take some time for everyone else to realize that I am right about Larry Sanders and Elder Hayward. Hayward is too slow laterally to play in the NBA and Larry Sanders is much better than advertised.
As for AK being better than Diaw. Anyone that disagrees is just being irrational or doesn't play enough basketball.

Re: the year KOC ruined the Jazz
First of all, people who think that we could get Gerald Wallace for AK are plain insane.......
Period, insane.......
Second, this is a luxuty tax move, that's it...... I don't like it, but I understand it...... They Jazz can't take as much of a luxury tax hit as they would if they don't trade Ak for a much smaller contract...... It's just not possible......
I wish it was somebody better than Diaw, but it's not the end of the World...... It opens up playing time for Miles and Hayward, and Diaw can be a legit backup at the 3/4 position......
And he's a large expiring contract next year that we can use to land someone better.....
That's if this trade even happans.......

Re: the year KOC ruined the Jazz
This is the year the Jazz organization is taking risks.
They did it when they signed Okur and Boozer, they did it when they trade assets to draft Wililams in front of consensus top PG choice Chris Paul, and they are doing it again now when Boozer's era came to an end.
I really think the title of this thread is a big reaction/mistake caused by the resistance to understand that sometimes things just have to change...

Diaw is not expiring next year. He has a player option. He will sign it because nobody will give him 9 million to eat pastry. Its a bad salary cap move.
Yea I want Gerald Wallace, if we trade AK. Doesn't mean it will happen. If you can't get wallace you just don't surrender and take Diaw. Get Charlotte out of the trade all together. Get someone better than Diaw.

Outerspace
You don't just change for change sake. That is crazy talk. If you are going to take risks you expect the possibility of tremendous upside. What is the upside. If Diaw loses the 50 lbs he put on in the Worlds this year you get a player that may be almost as good offensively as AK. Wow! that not taking risks that is being stupid.

KOC has done awesome this off season!! I have been critical of him in the past for not being aggressive and he has added Jefferson, Hayward (a great pick), Bell and watson. Im AK-47s biggest fan but if KOC is told by the owner to get under the luxury tax then he is getting at least a decent deal. The only way the Jazz get under the cap is by trading AK-47. I still hope the trade doesnt go down, but KOC has done a great job with the hand he was dealt this summer.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Yes, he'll probably exercise his player option for next year....... Hence he'll be an expiring contract.......
Just because you want something doesn't mean the other team gives it to you........ Who else is out there for the Jazz to acquire and save that much money? Give us a name.......

Well, Charlotte could send Nazr Mohammed and Derrick Brown instead. The trade still functions under the cap but we shed more salary and add a prospect. However, loserx has pointed out that they would need a center in return. I suggested Fesenko but I don't know how appealing that would be.

AK expires at the end of this year. Diaw expires not at the end of this year, but the year after.
As for the name, I wouldn't trade AK if I were the GM. I'd play out the year and resign him to a more reasonable contract. I like AK.
If I was forced to do something, I would exclude Charlotte from the trade altogether. I would take Harris from NJ. Let him and Deron play point and shooting guard. Obviously this is just my first reaction.

I don't give KOC much credit for signing Jefferson (a great signing). That trade fell right into his lap when Kahn gave away Jefferson for salary cap room. Any GM after losing Boozer, Mathews and Korver would have said yes to taking on Jefferson. It was a no brainer, perfect for KOC.

There's a quote button, you know. I'm against the trade too, but the name of this thread is ridiculous. Even if the trade goes through, having Diaw instead of AK is not going to make or break the season...
And can we just wait till the season starts before we start bashing on Hayward? The "Elder" joke is **** overplayed dude, he's not even mormon.

I disagree that trading AK for Diaw does not ruin the season. It does. I have already predicted that this trade will cost us at least five games (that is how little I think of Diaw). Five games in the western conference could make the difference in being a playoff team.
As for the Elder Hayward joke. I just can't stop. Sorry

I agree with moving on from Boozer. And, if you want to move on from AK for salary cap reasons, I may be able to understand. I still wont like it, but could understand. But you don't just get rid of AK and you certainly don't take on Diaw.
