could be. could also be a program height. I'll tell you this though for sure, when Tyler takes it inside he's jumping up into a forest of guys that are above him. I guess it doesn't matter though because at least he gets to the foul line while even though Jeff is tall enough to get his shot off unmolested, he misses a maddening number of layups.

Dunthreevy wrote:Saying that Hansbrough is a younger version of Foster is asinine. Foster has never in his life had the offensive game that Hansbrough has. They're both hard-nosed, gritty players, but that's where the comparison stops really, because as far as pure skill Hansbrough is leaps and bounds ahead of anything Foster ever was. I say that as a fan of Foster too.

Jeff was a PG in high school. I would assume that he had a decent offensive game back then.

Height is not the issue really. I know because Jeff Green has the height/Weight of a decent PF. But its his standing reach/wingspan that let him down.

What's the comparison between Foster and Hansbrough (in regards to reach)? Anyone know where to find the draft combine measurements for this stuff?

I can't find Foster's measurements, but he could dunk from the free throw line out of college (just not as pretty as the other guys who have done it.

Draft express has sortable MEASUREMENTS that go back to 1989, but some years are very spotty. I think Foster came out in 1999 and that year is particularly dodgy for whatever reason. At any rate, Foster's info isn't in there.

Hansbrough's listed at 6'9.5 in shoes, with an 8'10" standing reach. If you look at this LINK you can see Hansbrough's measurements compared to Blake Griffin (just a few lines above). Other than the no step vert where Griffin wins comfortably, there isn't a lot of difference in their measurements or athletic testing.

That has nothing to do with guarding bigger players, I just think it's interesting that Griffin is considered a great athlete and Hansbrough is considered marginal. I wonder if things like how quickly you can get into your jump have a much larger effect on how athletic you can play versus some of these things they try to measure quantifiably.

Jeff Green's standing reach is only 8'7" even though he's the same height as Hansbrough.

Uncle Jeff has t-rex arms. Which is a pity because he has great game and heart. Just flat out not built for PF.

I like Hansbrough. And those stats do show him in a positive light. The real question is - what does he become? Nick Collison or David Lee?

Does Green still have that runner? He used to always use it at Georgetown.

He still has alot of offense. He does tend to shoot too much from the outside though (where his % is low) He is clutch as hell, and a great character guy. I hope we move him into 6th man role and start Serge Ibaka.

When I watch the Thunder, Green usually spots up intead of using his quickness and handles to his advantage. He always drove to the rim in college. He should go back to that. He'll be a good starting 4 if Aldrich can become a great shotblocker or if Ibaka can put on some weight and become a center (I don't think is a good idea).
