i think Thompson, with his langth, mobility, rebounding and all around game he could make amazing combo with DMC, they could creat great frontline together.
Landry is a very good scorer but undersized and selfish, he is better suited for a sixth man role!

Thompson is a long tall all around big man that is a decent defender a good rebounder and one of the best passing bigs in the league. He is my choice as the starter, he will be a fantastic fit with either dalembert or cousins.

I have to agree.

I don't wanna be perceived as all ove JT's jock, but the fact is that he has shown that he has the fundamental skills/abilities to have a solid fifteen year NBA career because - in the end - you just cannot teach his size. Carl is typical of a guy who has a nice career as a great sixth man, but he just isn't big enough in the West for night in night out and playoff contention in the long run.

Size is only useful if you use it to your advantage. Look at Brad Miller and Spencer Hawes as an example of the obvious. JT is a little bit "old hat" in terms of fit and the mentality of this team a few years back. He still has some of the quickest feet for a guy that size I've seen in a long time, but he's far from a player that capitalizes on his size/strength. He did at SF his rookie year though.

^^i thought he looked good at center at the end of last season, i thought he used his size to good effect and sisnt let himself ger bullied in the paint. He also used those quick feet to pull his man out to the elbow and the drive past him on his way to the bucket.

I still believe Thompson is the guy that can average 17/9, 17/10, etc every night. (He actually averaged 16/9 for the first 30-something games last season before he ran out of gas in the middle part of the season). I think Thompson is going to eventually get it. But the problem is that Landry is a damn good player himself. He could easily average 18/7, 19/7 or even 20/7 if the Kings decides to give him more offensive responsibility.

I like both guys. But I think it is wise to put Landry as our dynamic player off the bench (same situation back in Houston). He will be the Kings big man version of Bobby Jackson.

Landry makes more sense off the bench as a scoring punch, but then JT can play some Center with his size.

I say go for a Cousins/Landry with JT off the bench for the future. That'd be a pretty solid 3-man big rotation.

That's my realm of thinking as well. I think because JT can play 3 positions with adequate ability, he makes a better option off the bench. Depends on how Landry looks at SF, but we are stacked there already so I'll take the guy that can play C coming off the bench. Not too mention coming off the bench doesn't seem to hinder him all that much and we're probably going to want consistent rebounding off the bench, Landry can't provide that. Unless somebody gets their minutes crunched I still don't see how anyone on that frontline gets consistent minutes though, too many bodies!!

Landry. Thompson has a long way to go. The only advantage is his height. But landry is better in every other dynamic.

Ummm..... not really. I'd still vote Landry over Thompson but there are a few things Thompson has over Carl; height, weight, length, athleticism, rebounding (in a big way), versatility, etc.

Rebounding is obviously the biggest thing he brings that Carl doesn't. The question I have is how important will his rebounding be for this team with Cousins and Dalembert though?
