Sacramento is still the best market for the Kings in my opinion. It's proven that it can sustain the team. I don't think the Maloofs want to risk their investment by moving the team, and that's why they've been trying everything to get a new arena built here.

Eh I remember when we were making the playoffs we would have like half the warriors arena full with our fans and it even got the nickname Arco 2. There's 2 teams in LA so why not? Sacramento don't even deserve a team anymore, just look at the bull the people in the Sac bee post. No wonder they don't want anything to do with paying for a new arena/entertainment complex, one person even got upset that their tax money was going to feed homeless people! They're the most miserly people in California.

Sac/Stockton/Modesto was Golden State Warriors territory long before the kings ever invaded Nor Cal..I'm going to love not having to order league pass anymore to get my W's games

Territory in Northern California sports is entirely based on who's winning. Once the Kings can field a good team again, which it is looking perilously close to doing, all of those areas will turn purple.

With all the warriors games on LOCAL TV, the kings will be a distant memory in a few years and most fans living in the Valley will be warriors fans once again.

The reason why the arena deal keeps failing is because it's a pork barrel plan to accomplish something else. That's the reason why building it in Natomas has never been a choice. If you build it in the railyard then it starts the process of rebuilding that area. If you build it @ Cal Expo the plan has been to revitalize Cal Expo in conjunction. The plan has never been to just build an arena.

Sorry about bumping an old thread, but I thought this was interesting...

In another development, sources close to the situation confirmed the Kings are on the verge of announcing a new multi-year naming rights deal. In other words, Arco Arena won't be Arco Arena much longer. Asked to provide details, Joe Maloof would say only, "I can't talk about that right now. You'll just have to wait. But everybody is going to be surprised."

Yea, I always have this issue in the back of my mind ever since this became news. It would be strange to see the arena NOT called ARCO anymore.

:sigh:

I hear it's going to be re-named the "Dollar Tree" arena. In the team store they're going to have reduced prices on cleaning supplies and bootleg energy drinks. Times are tough.

my friend, whose source works within the organization, told that Intel Corporation has purchased the naming rights. Its not finalized if it will be called Intel Arena / Intel Center / Intel Garden..

i don't know the source directly.. so can't guarantee how reliable the information is..
