Do you see any top 50 9 category roto players this year?

The ones I can see possibly crack the top 50 are only Demarcus Cousins and Wesley Johnson. I don't think Wall has the multi-cat skills to crack the top 50, like Rose. Turner will have to find his way and is a stronger rebounder and good passer, he won't have the ball in his hands as much as he had in college, so I don't see him making that much of an roto impact. Even in his prime, he might not surpass the stats of a Roy and Joe Johnson, both 20ish and lower ranked players.

Dermacus Cousins has a huge downside: to's and ft'%. However, those are the same issues Boozer has always dealt with. Cousins can get some blks however.

Wesley Johnson is a multi-cat player. He can shoot threes, block shots, get steals and score. That's roto gold, and if he manages to crack the starting five or earn at least 28 minutes a game, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Wesley Johnson among the top 50 roto players.

In the future, the other more intriguing lower picked roto options to me would be:

Paul George
Erick Bledsoe

Also, is it me, or does the 2011 draft look stacked with potentially great roto players? Perry Jones, Kanter, Motiejunas, Sullinger, Knight, Irving, Vesely and Miles all look like they'd contribute in multiple categories.

Maybe we can use this topic to trace the rookies and their fantasy impact over the year?

I think Wall will be similar to Rose in terms of fantasy stats.
Turner is looking like this year's bust, based on the fact that he looked TERRIBLE in SL.
Wes Johnson will probably be a Martell Webster in terms of fantasy. Take that how you will.
I can't forsee Paul George being a star, but I do think he could be a valuable contributor without any real glaring weaknesses, something like a perennial 5th round pick.
I think Bledsoe is massively overrated.

I'm not too high on any of the rookies this year unless something changes. Wall is the only one that will def put up stats, but like Rose I doubt he cracks the top 50. There are always surprises though!

Same thing that's been said by many of you.

Wall doesn't have a consistant 3-pt shot and will turn the ball over a ton. He'll put up similar numbers to D.rose over his rookie year. Which didn't crack the top 50.

The only guys that I think have a chance are DeMarcus Cousins, Blake Griffen, and Evan Turner. We all know Turner had a horrible summer league, but if he can put up anything close to his College numbers, he would crack the top 50. He's a multicat guy and those tend to do well in the rankings. Griffen and to a lesser extent Cousins may get some big minutes. When you combine scoring, boards, blocks and solid fg% they have a chance to get up there. Griffen especially since he isn't that bad of a ft shooter.

Besides that I don't really know??? Maybe if Whiteside blocks 5 shots a game lol?

I do anticipate that Jeremy Lin will post passable stats for roto - something like 9/3/3 with maybe 1 steal and a 3 and good %'s, and limited TOs. Kind of like a worse Shane Battier.

I'll go out on a limb:

Greg Monroe.


The Pistons have nothing up front so he's going to see minutes. He should score reasonably well; by being a big he's almost guaranteed 6 boards and .7 blocks; and he's a decent passer.

I always pass on rookies during drafts, as they usually go way to high anyway...

If it's a dynasty or keeper league, and I have to predict who will be the best the their 1st year...

John Wall - He'll put up great numbers, althought I'm not too sure how roto-friendly
Turner - Summer league Shmummer leage....he's a do-it-all type, so he should be strong
Griffin - few cats, but they'd be an anchor if those are the stats you need.
Wes Johnson - already has a lingering hamstring injury, but if he bounces back and figures things out quicky, could get across the board contributions.
Cousins - will probably have some games where he is amazing, but will average out to not even break top 100.
Luke Babbit could put up Gallinari-like numbers if the injury bug hits Portland again, as a solid % guy who probably won't have the ball in his hands enough to commit as many TO.

Those are probably the only top 100 guys.
As for top 50 guys,...not likely year one.

It is the rare rookie that cracks the top 50. Although some will play at that level towards the end of the season. Top 100 is another story.

That said I am looking for good things from Xavier Henry. He could be an across the board contributor as he is a great shooter and good rebounder for a guard.
