Jason Kidd Calls B.S. On Reports
Why is he telling Melo not to view NJ as an option to sign with? He demanded to be traded to a contender and the Nets did just that. So why is he being a little punk and telling Melo its not a good idea? What does it matter to Kidd what Melo or the Nets do? Im disappointed......

Re: I just lost alot of respect for Kidd
I'm a little on the fence about it, but it's certainly one of those wtf situations.
I mean he was brought here and had the best and most successful years of his career here, he was paid max money and when he requested a trade he was shipped to the specific destination of his desire, so you would think he could be positive to Melo or just shut his mouth.
On the other hand we don't know exactly what he told Anthony and chances are it was just the truth, that the arena never sold out, the fan base for the most part is fickle and fair weather and the media are mainly a bunch of clowns that pay more attention to the Knix even when we were wiping the floor with them for the better part of a decade.
And on the other hand you would think these guys (Kidd and Melo) would have the basic intelligence to say, "Hey, things haven't been necessarily great in NJ, but they're out of that dump in the Meadowlands into a brand new state of the art arena and the penny pinching scumbag owner the Rat has been replaced with a Russian billionaire who loves sports and has experience owning very successful, major sports franchises. Maybe things are looking bright."
IDK, and that wiretap headline is of course the typical anti-Nets, pro-Knix drivel propaganda that RealGM seems to be promoting more and more these days as their authors and admins become increasingly bitter, showing their true colors...

I always liked Jason Kidd. Now I like him even more. Looks like Melo listened to him too. Melo just reported to training camp. Looks like he's gonna ride it out one more season so the Knicks can sign him next offseason.

Re: I just lost alot of respect for Kidd
Seriously? We're angry at Jason Kidd right now? You guys are nuts.
I read a few things about Melo talking to Kidd today and at no point did it seem to me he said "Dude don't sign there. You'll want to die." If he said something like that, we'd have a point to be angry, but I don't think Kidd said anything of that nature.
In my opinion, Kidd said exactly what any friend would say to another friend when asked for advice on a situation they had some insight about. Kidd spent the last years of his prime in Jersey and I would consider him an expect on what a star player faces with our franchise. Melo went to him as a friend would would give him honest advice. I'm sure Kidd said some decent things about us but made it clear what Melo's concerns should be so he could really think over the option and decide whether he is up for the challenge.
It's what ANY friend would do for another, plain and simple. Everyone needs to stop thinking like a fan in regards to this aspect of the situation. If Melo chooses against Jersey and states specifically his conversation with Kidd was the final straw, you still can't be mad. You can be bummed out of course, but this is Melo's life. If he isn't up to the challenge like Kidd was when he came to Jersey, then we don't need him. But still, Kidd isn't trying to sabotage this. He's just giving his opinion and shouldn't be criticized by our franchise for it.
Damn guys chill.

Now you're jumping the gun a little bit. I think Melo and the Nuggets have reached the point of no return right now. After this fiasco, there is no way that team will be able to function until the trade deadline, let alone the whole season.
Melo will be gone before the season. It just may not be the Nets. To tell you the truth, the longer this drags on and the dirtier this gets, the weaker the leverage will be for Denver.
Seriously though...Just give us Melo and Kmart in a deal where Denver clears cap space and we end up still with decent cap room next summer.
Done deal. Maybe I just want to start wearing my KMart jersey again lol.

Well alright, but I didnt see anywhere that he went to Kidd for advice it just says that Kidd cautioned him about coming to New Jersey which I dont think was necessary. The Nets are completely different team now with a new owner and not that bum rat that was here when Kidd was last on the team. But on a more serious note, wheres my qdoba gift card???

*according to a league source who spoke with FanHouse...
Even if he did speak with him, its a different situation, a different regime, arena and destination...maybe he told him how friggin expensive the real estate is here or how high the property taxes are and the car insurance...maybe thats what detering Melo...
blah, blah, blah...make a move Denver...make up your mind Melo, "should I stay or should I go now", is now your theme song...

Sorry Nets fans. Looks like you were a hair away from acquiring Melo. Now it looks like he'll play out the rest of the season, or be traded to the Knicks come deadline time.

I believe this is the part that people on the Knicks board would say: "STFU & GTFO."

After Melo suffers a season ending injury, we'll be thanking Kidd.

Damn I'm so mad. The Knicks get all he good players. I should have never doubted that fanbase when they guaranteed they would get Lebron James and whichever other free agent they wanted in 2010 years ago.

I knew the Nets were not getting Anthony. Why would he agree to play 2 of his prime years in Jersey? And all he would have to play with is Lopez. He is going to the Knicks to play with Amare and maybe cp3. It's just the way it is. Sorry to say it.

Thanks for the input, I hope you have a wonderful day.
Oh, and ps, you won't be able to afford CP3 and Anthony, unless both take a pay cut.

Actually we can sign Melo after this year and trade for cp3 next year so we can afford both of them. You guys have a nice young team.I like the Nets young talent. Just build around them.

Who are you trading for CP3? Gallo + Randolph + Chandler + Douglas has already proven not enough to land Carmelo
