Favors is not a sure thing, Devin is not a young peach anymore, and getting rid of him frees up something a lot of you go crazy over. CAPSPACE. We also trade 2 first round picks, 1 of them we hustled out of poor Golden State. So we will only be without a first for ONE YEAR.

Once we make a trade to enter a short to mid term championship window the quality of picks trails off dramatically. Devin may be entering prime years, but the rest of the core is still young. If we wait a few more years, build through the draft we can emerge as the heat and other stacked teams begin to decline.

I bet most of us would have given up #3 and Devin for #1 (Wall) so how is this much different. We are just adding 2 picks to get a top ten player. Not that Melo is going to bring us a Chip but if he goes to the Knicks we will be irrelevant when we move to Brooklyn.

I have pondered this trade for days should we shouldn't we. It comes down to this if we do it we will be in a better position short term (business side) for our move to Brooklyn and maybe we will be able to compete with Miami if we can somehow land another star (CP3) but it's a long shot. If we stand pat yeah we are going to struggle moving to Brooklyn cause the Knicks will be better then us but I also think we will be in a better position to contend (4-5 years away) when all the current stars (Kobe, LBJ, Melo, Wade, Amare) are on the downside of their careers.

Is the long way the best way who knows and it's also the risky way seeing as we won't know how or talent will develop. If we are going to be true contenders it might be the best way because the other way has too many what ifs and Miami has a powerhouse that very few can contend with.

Either way I'll be fine with our team.

This is a fair question, but salary and age are key differences. I would probably deal Devin and Derrick for a 19yo stud who costs $5mil, but not for a 26yo who will be paid $22mil with his new extension.

He must feel like he can't trust Johnson, Favors to. Idk if Avery can mend the fences. This trying to get Melo thing is bad. They need to get him or not but this cant go on. They need a real deadline and to find out for sure would he even sign.

Also why is our package 10x better then anybody else's? Is it even worth it? If Favors is a 18 and 10 and 1.5 guy Id rather have him and Harris wouldn't you?

18, 10 and 1.5 or 30, 6 and 6....... Ill take Melo any day of the week. He could go off for 45 every time he steps on the court. And why would Harris feel that way? He knows this is a business and he knows Melo is a premier player. Hes not Jay Cutler, Harris is a high class guy he understands whats going on.

Favors is nowhere near being an 18,10 player... and melo isn't a 30,6,6 player either.

Ok i should have done my research first, but he still has career averages of 25, 6 and 3. His best season so far has been 29, 6 and 4. And you know hes good for those numbers at least the next 6 years.
