OT-kinda silly question but...

what i m wondering is this;

for example last year in playoffs game 3 vs utah kobe played one of his worst games ever shooted 5-24 from field and miss the potential game winner.
just two days later in game 4 he goes and scores 38 points on 16-24 fg (14/17 at one point) vs even better one on one and help defense.

same thing goes for game 2 of the rox series and game 5/3rd quarter of c s series(he was having a bad game to that point)

so my question is this what do you call that?
desperation,redemption,skill or luck ?
and if its about will why doesnt he show up with same will to every game?

ps.dont bash me out i know he comes every game to with that killer instict but this one is different kind of thing,and i want to know what s this exactly

I think you call it the unpredictability of professional sports. It's why they play the games. Too many little variables go into something like that to simply say "why."

what you have to consider is that Kobes consistency has been affected by injuries. He wont make that excuse, but you have to be a hater if you think he has been 100% the past couple of years.

It's statistically improbable for him to hit all the game winners and every shot. Although I'd say he's about 70% on game winners usually, his stats should say no more than 60%. At the end of games, teams also get worn down a bit and good players have ample time to truly read a defense and figure out ways to exploit it.

This is really nothing to over analyze, it's simply making adjustments. There is no formula on why a guy sucks one game and comes back in another and terrorizes the opponent.

As an athlete sometimes everything seems to just go right...and as things go right, the momentum kicks in, and more things go right, and more things go right, and you just have a night when everything goes right. At the same time, sometimes you just have games where everything goes wrong, etc. etc. etc. There are so many factors that play into it, I don't think we have enough information to say exactly why Kobe has those disparities from game to game sometimes. Factors include simply how he is feeling that game, how the defense is playing him, sometimes your body just doesn't perform the way you want it to so his shooting is a little off, etc.

Like what the other guys are saying.. u can't really analyze it.... too many things can cause his off nights and on fire days.... But i truly believe it's due to his injuries.. especially his finger.. one strong slap and that thing goes numb... next day with some rest.. it's all good again...

All players go thru that up and down stage.. some longer than others..ouch.

I think people tend to forget he had a broken finger on his shooting hand for the entire second half of the season. It pretty clearly affected him in some games. It's actually pretty amazing that he managed to overcome it as often as he did and play with no discernible drop off.
