Should be an interesting draft for the G-Men. Will Shockey be traded? Rumors on the radio say he may be traded even though Reese has said he wouldn't be. Shockey is a very good TE, but I guess with Boss looking good at the end of last year, if they can get a day one draft pick for him they need to consider it.
As far as the draft goes, I would be happy with a LB, S, CB, OL, or WR. We seem to be pretty set at HB, FB, QB, DE, and maybe DT.

Jerrod Mayo, Thats who I want in the 1st
I was on the Kenny Phillips bandwagon before, but people are saying he didn't have a good combine. I question his work ethic.
I don't want Dan Conner, he doesn't fit Spags scheme. BEcause we would be drafting his as OLB when he would only excell as a MLB. And he ain't replacing Pierce no time soon.

Probably shouldn't have changed the title of this thread and instead made a new one because anyone who hadn't seen it before has no idea who the first poster is talking about.
Anyways, unless one of the top LTs or CBs fall to us I'd prefer trading the pick to a team like the Falcons or Bears who may want to jump up and grab a QB. I'd trade the pick for a 2009 first and either a 2008 third or a swap of seconds and a fourth.

My Giants mock:
First a few trades:
NY Giants trade their 2008 first round pick (#31) to the Chicago Bears for 2008 third round pick (#70), 2008 sixth round pick (#175) and a 2009 first round pick. This allows the Bears to jump up and grab a QB.
NY Giants trade TE Jeremy Shockey and a 2009 fifth round pick to the New Orleans Saints for a 2008 second round pick (#40) and a 2009 second round pick.
2) (#40) Kenny Phillips S Miami - He's the best safety on the board. Fills a huge need.
2) (#63) Carl Nicks OT Nebraska - I'm not sure if he will still be around here but if so he would be an awesome pickup. Had a great combine. The character concerns are overblown, here's what the Lincoln Journal Star said about his arrest:
"Police arrived to find the music could be heard [at 3124 Mickaela Lane in northwest Lincoln before midnight Sunday] from the sidewalk and more than 75 people inside. Empty beer cans littered the home. Police cited 10 partygoers who remained after officers told everyone to leave, including Nicks ... Police arrested Nicks on suspicion of being an inmate of a disorderly house and failure to disperse after he wouldn't leave. He since has been released."
Doesn't concern me a bit, he's not even underage.
3) (#70) Jordy Nelson WR Kansas State - I love this guy. Very productive(122 catches, 1606 yards, 11 TDs), fast (4.51 40 time), big (6' 3" 217), high character. Nothing not to like about him.
3) (#95) Ahtyta Rubin DT Iowa State - I've heard Mike Wauffle is lobbying hard for this guy, like Pope was lobbying for Boss last year. He's huge (6' 3" 315). Big time space eater. With only three DTs on the roster this makes sense.
4) (#130) Zack Bowman CB Nebraska - I'm very high on him. A few years ago he was one of the top CB prospects in the nation. Had a few knee injuries, but had a good combine (wth a 4.39 40). Is a tall CB (6' 1"). High risk-high reward, similar to Cromartie a few years ago.
5) (#165) Brad Cottam TE Tennessee - Highly skilled but injury prone. With Shockey gone, this is a good spot to grab a TE.
6) (#175) Ezra Butler OLB Nevada - Probably best LB still on the board at this point. Had 93 tackles, 13.5 TFLs, 3.5 sacks, 3 FF and 3 picks despite missing two games.
6) (#194) Tommy Blake DE Texas Christian University - Was once a top 15 player. Has social anxiety disorder but it's being treated. Another high risk-high reward player and I'd take the chance this late in the draft.
6) (#198) Stanford Keglar OLB Purdue - Workout warrior. 70 tackles and 4 TFLs. Worth a shot late.
6) (#199) Brandon Carr CB Grand Valley State - Had a good pro day (4.43 40, 35" vert), six feet tall. Had 13 passes defensed to go with 45 tackles and 2 picks.
