I have a feeling Xavier will be riding the bench for most of the season unless injuries occur or he shoots lights out. Not a lot of minutes are available with Rudy/O.J. getting their 35 MPG and TA figuring to get 18-20 MPG. That leaves only a few minutes for him and Sam to battle out for.

I don't see Tony getting that many minutes. Sure they paid him, but I still get the feeling Henry and Young will gobble up a fair amount of the available minutes off the bench. Allen just isn't a very good shooter, something we definitely needed off the bench last year. The flip side of that is that our bench defense sucked last season and TA obviously brings that in spades.
I guess if Sam plays like he did last year and Henry isn't a reliable threat from deep, you could very well be right.

Mayo has supposedly been working on his play making skills. Hopefully, he slides to PG and Henry gets a lot of burn at the 2. Henry's defense if supposed to be pretty good so he and Allen playing together should slow down other team's second units.

Juice is not seeing any minutes at PG.

Chris Wallace and Vernon talked yesterday about Tony Allen getting minutes at PG. OJ is currently 9th on Hollins' depth chart at the point:

Grizzlies PG Depth Chart:

Acie Law
Mike Conley
Tony Allen
Greivis Vasquez
Pete Pranica

Way back a long time ago Tony Allen was a considered a combo guard. I'm not saying he is a playmaker or outside threat but I could see him and Mayo on the court at the same time.

Tony Allen has some garbage ball handling skills, but he did play back up PG for the Celtics the first two rounds of the playoffs this past season before Nate Robinson gained Doc River's confidence.

Granted it was only for 4-5 minutes, he was sufficient.

I haven't seen the games only read the box scores but the first couple preseason games have been a little disappointing.

Boxscores don't tell the whole story, but he definitely looks like he's a 19 yr old that missed Summer League.
