While Caracter isn't the ideal height he is the ideal player in terms of bulk/paint play. I can imagine him beasting on LO the way Landry/Big Baby did against LO  . Looking forward to seeing Ebanks get burn to during garbage time over Sasha, we all know his time is up this year why waste minutes on him.

Caracter is shorter than Ebanks - no thanks.

so, not saying hes Barkley but Barkley was even shorter then that and he would annihilate guys like Odom/Bosh of today. Chuck Hayes is 6 5 at best and he owns Bynum when trying to post up.

Derrick is 6' 9. Ebanks is 6' 8. Both have the same wingspan which is 7' 0.

They were marked as the same height in summer league and Ebanks was visibly taller on the court.

Barnes ramps up the Lakers’ defense

The Lakers already boasted two of the league’s more defensive-minded players in Kobe Bryant and Ron Artest. Now, they have Matt Barnes, who gives them yet another strong defensive presence.

So what can opponents expect this season? Plenty of trouble, Barnes said.

“That’s going to be trouble with me, Ron and Kobe on the floor at the same time,” Barnes said. “We all definitely have a defensive mindset, so that could be a problem.”

Artest, though, said he’s excited to see how the Lakers’ defense will shape up this season. Throw in Pau Gasol’s shot blocking and Derek Fisher’s steals and even the most prolific scoring team could have “trouble.”

“We’re going to have a tough defense,” Artest said. “We had two of the best last year and now we have another and that makes us that much tougher. And Matt can make big shots; he likes taking big shots. I can’t wait.”

Barnes said he has watched a lot of Lakers game film to get a sense of the team’s flow and, of course, the triangle offense.

I find it funny no one ever mentions Blake's defense, but he's a hard-nosed dude. Always brought it against Kobe.

Yeah Blake did a really good job against Kobe about 3 or 4 years ago that one game, and while he hasn't been able to duplicate that against kobe since he's always done a decent against shooting guards.

Blake has the rep of being unable to guard the quick little guards though :-? I remember watching the Clips vs the Bucks last year and he couldn't stick Jennings so they had to use Eric Gordon on Jennings. I don't even consider Jennings to be one of the quicker guards in the league, he's just a little crafty.

Anyways I just hope the rumors of his demise are greatly exaggerated. I'm banking on that he'll be a huge upgrade over Dfish and Farmar against the quick speedy guards. Because the fight Fisher and Farmar have put up the last couple years has been atrocious. It has to be the worst defense at the pg position against little guards in the league for 3 years running. There's no way blake can do worse.

love how blake and fish were the targets for those ankle-breakers. but in todays game, a lot of players are so good and quick that excellent defenders can do little against their opponents one-on-one.
