Traning Camp Started Today!

Post#1 » by carrottop12 » Tue Sep 28, 2010 11:12 pm

17 players in camp with the Jazz today.

Deron Williams/Earl Watson/Ronnie Price/Sundiata Gaines
CJ Miles/Raja Bell/Ryan Thompson/Othyus Jeffers
Andrei Kirilenko/Gordon Hayward/Demetris Nichols
Paul Milsap/Jeremy Evans/
Al Jefferson/Francisco Elson/Kyrylo Fesenko/Mehmet Okur

Pretty tight roster, my guess is there is only 1 open spot to grab between Gaines, Jeffers, Nichols and Thompson. I really doubt Gaines makes it in over Price, and I think we have seen what Jeffers offers.

My guess it it comes down to Nichols and Thompson and who looks the most adept to being able to create their own shot, play defense and show some accuracy from deep, and of those two my guess is they get an unguaranteed contract for the season to be reexamined in January.

I have to say, this is a very exciting roster, this is the most turn over we've had in about 6 years and I think we made some very solid additions. Can't wait until the first preseason game.

Some comments are in the blogs, it sounds like some of the players are not in the best of shape, I think it is the newcommers. (my guess is Al Jefferson, and Watson)

I doubt it's Al, just because he has been training hardcore this summer. Plus I wonder how many of these guys are genuinely out of shape, or if they are just out of shape by Jazz standards. My guess is Raja Bell and Elson.

I'd tend to agree with you about Elson. Bell was said to be in great shape.

I don't think it's Watson either...... The Jazz wouldn't have signed him then......

I don't have any kind of insight in to who's not in great shape and, thus, can't do much more than randomly guess as to who is. Given how hard Jefferson claims to have worked over the summer, however, he doesn't seem to be a likely candidate and KOC allegedly singled out both Bell and Watson as players who are in excellent shape. Granted, his conditioning standards are almost certainly different than Sloan's, but, even if newcomers are probably more likely than returnees to be in less than ideal shape, I doubt any of those three are part of the problem group. Elson, maybe? One or more of the rookies? I don't know, but I'm sure everybody--everybody that's actually going to play, at least--will be fine come opening night.

I doubt anyone is in Ostertag shape. It's probably nothing to worry about.

I'd rather focus on the guys that are in great shape instead.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

You know it was Big Al, did you see him sweating just walking through the airport? (:

I think he is in shape for Big Al, but not for Utah.

Its usually the young guys who arent in good enough shape, or at least they arent in BETTER shape then the old guys like the coaches expect them to be.

Yea there were pictures of him Earlier this summer without a shirt and he looked fat.

I actually think he might be the one Sloan was referring to.
