AJ is pathetic. Yankees are going to be in real trouble if we need to count on him to win a game in the post season.

I am kind of now resigned to the fact that we will not repeat this year. Just too many holes to overcome. Pettite has been hurt for the entire second half; AJ is just awful; Jeter has gotten old and is no longer a capable player; Mariano is blowing games now.

Just end this misery and get Cliff Lee next year :(

A bit pre-mature to say the Yankees can't repeat? Sabathia and Pettite will be fine, Hughes has looked better, and they only need 2-3 solid starts (4 runs in 6-7 innings) from AJ to get them into the WS, and at that point anything can happen. It isn't like the Rays and Twins don't have question marks themselves and haven't been struggling of late either.

It's not that they can't repeat. I just don't think they will. I think this is the start of a transitional period for the Yankees. We don't even know if Girardi will be managing the team next year, let alone if Mariano will ever be the same, or if Jeter has completely fallen off.

The Yanks always scare me in a 5 game series because you gotta win now. In best of 7 you can lose the first two games and recover. Not in a 5 game set.

Vasquez has given up...what a waste of space...at least pavano was "hurt" all the time and didnt go out and throw half hearted innings

I can see why Girardi didn't want to give the starters the night off with the offense starting to click but the problem clearly lies on the starting pitching. Javier proved that he's a NL pitcher plain and simple.
