Toronto Maple Leafs is still looking for top 6. So I may be wrong or right if the Maple Leafs are starting interest in Cheecho for a mininum wages.
What do you think of Cheechoo? Is he a fit with the Leafs or not?

Gee, I know the Leafs are bad, but the guy couldn't get a contract anywhere and then got cut from a try-out with more than a week left in training camp. I don't think he'd be a top-6 on the Marlies at this point.
I don't think he's more than a 13th forward on any NHL team any more, and from that perspective he's not a fit with the Leafs - pretty sure a Burke-run team would want that 13th forward to at least be a penalty-killer, if not a pugilist.

watching him play last season, it was pretty sad. You could see he was trying, but he just didn't have NHL caliber speed anymore. The hands are still there, the desire is there, but the wheels aren't. He's this year's jason allison

Re: Dallas Stars release Cheechoo
I see no harm in signing him to a AHL Marlies deal...... just as an experiment.
but im pretty sure he NEVER reaches the old hights again. I mean he cant score enough to be a top 6 forward, BUT ALSO, he cant fight or kill penalties to be a bottom 6 in a Brian Burke team

Owen Nolan is a better experiment. The guy scored 25 just a couple of seasons ago and hey, if he cant repeat atleast he is physical and plays smart hockey. At the very least he is a leader.

That injury killed his career. And it's a shame, because he was a fricken monster.

I'd pass on Cheechoo, there are better options out there if need be.
