Hassan Whiteside: Before and After

Post#1 » by RipCity71252 » Thu Sep 30, 2010 2:10 am

Reports were saying that he'd packed on about 25-30 pounds since summer league. These types of things are normally BS but.....

After: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5C3w9RSz ... _embedded#!

Sure, the comparison isn't ideal, but dang.

Yeah without steroids 10 lbs of muscle in two months is impossible. 25-30 not even steroids, HGH, and a heap of spinach could get you.

Whiteside weighs 250+ pounds now. He was about 225 pounds at draft day. He looks noticeably bigger and ripped right now.

I don't know how he did it (he said he ate EVERYTHING and worked out everyday). The kid turned 21 couple of months ago.

Kings fans: What is your current feeling on your longterm frontcourt? Right now it is pretty crowded. Is Jason Thompson still in favor? If Whiteside and Cousins can play next to each other, that imo would be a pretty nice frontcourt sometime down the line. But this seems to leave JT and Landry as odd men out (or 6th men, at least.)

Alot of guys gain the muscle in the summer and due to rigorous NBA schedule lose it all by the time Feburary comes around.

I'm hoping fairly hard this guy turns out.

The league needs more centres.

Whiteside does not have any attitude or character problems/issues from what I seen. There are reports that Whiteside has ADD. A lot of athletes that has ADD and could function very well. I don't know why GMs passed up the kid that was projected to go in the lotto. Unless his ADD is affecting his game (from my indications, it is NOT), this is probably one of the weakest excuses to pass a player imo.

NOTE:

His jersey number is #33. The reason why he chose that? Because that was his selected draft position. On record he said, he will use this as a motivating cause of working hard. He didn't expect to fall off the 1st round. He was pretty sincere and genuine when he talked about why he chose the #.

Is that a bad thing to do? No. Is that any indication of a bad attitude? No. His so-called character issues are way overblown. In reality, he is a shy, humble kid with a good sense of humor.

The Kings should trade Jason Thompson for a guard they can start next to Evans. They have plenty of cap space so they can take on a lot of salary.

Project center, but definitely could be something good for the Kings down the line. The frontcourt for this upcoming season will definitely be Thompson, Cousins, Landry, Dalembert. Don't see much room for Whiteside cracking the frontcourt rotation.

Landry is a FA after this season (and Dalembert is a FA too). The Kings could offer them a contract or let other teams sign them. Guys like Cousins, Whiteside and Thompson are under contract for several years.

I would like to think Cousins will be the Kings starting C for the future and players like Thompson and Whiteside can battle for the PF position.

*Assuming the Kings will not sign Landry and Dalembert.

^--- I think two more years of tanking is a good idea, if possible (might be impossible if Reke and Cousins are too good, you'll win too many games.)

Need to assemble as much high-lotto talent as possible before trying to compete against teams. Also, if you time it properly, you'll be catching the Lakers on a downswing.

Anyway, quite an interesting team...my local team is the Warriors and I'm a Raps fan, but i hope the Kings do well :)

Okay, how does that work? I saw that guy in summer league, and he was a pretty amazing shotblocker, and he even showed a couple of nice post moves, but he was also skinny as a rail and got pushed all over the court.

He doesn't even look like the same player. Photoshop his head out of two side by side pictures and never in a million years would you guess it was the same guy. Steroids? Or was his mama just starving him at home?

The guy dropped because he has ADHD but refused to continue taking the medicine for it because of how it made him feel. How that translated to attitude problems I don't know but the Hawks preferred taking 3 mill from OKC than picking him up with the 31st pick, guy is a steal.

Older one and done rookie at 21
Was ruled academically ineligible at Marshall before declaring for the draft
Jerome Jordan severely outplayed him
His coach kicked him out of practice and benched him in Marshall's postseason tournament
He played poorly in both tournament games
