They said he has attitude problems. Idiots...........

Not Morey of course.

Attitude problems, a complete and utter inability to pass the ball (and really that's the only way to explain it ), terrible defensively in pick-and-roll and man-to-man situations., underdeveloped physically...

Whiteside is a BIG TIME project big without the clear-cut upside of a Derrick Favors. He's a less powerful DeAndre Jordan at this point in time.

Now with that being said I think the Kings did good to draft him since they can afford to bring the guy along slowly but just because you get flashy weakside blocks doesn't mean you're going to be a player in the NBA (R.I.P. Sean Williams' career :-().

Need to assemble as much high-lotto talent as possible before trying to compete against teams. Also, if you time it properly, you'll be catching the Lakers on a downswing.

Anyway, quite an interesting team...my local team is the Warriors and I'm a Bosh fan, but i hope the Kings do well :)

Those are just newb gains.

If he's working out everday and taking in a lot of protein he's going to blow up, not alot of fat on his frame.

It's going to be kind of difficult for him to gain any more weight IMO

I'm extremely excited for this kid. If he puts on maybe 20 pounds more, and can develop some footwork in the post, he's going to be exceptionally good.

He has the size. 7'0 with a 7'7" wingspan. Has incredible athleticism for his size.

Just maturity and footwork.

People always bring up steroids and dumb things like that. First of all he does not have the same body as the average person. Stop assuming just because your body cant put on 20lbs of muscle in 3 months doesnt mean a 7 foot skinny 19 year old athlete cant.

If anyone ever saw the Jazz per-draft workout interview with Whiteside, you'd have some answers. As noted on the Wizards board back then, the dude is just not smart. I can't say I liked his play at Marshall, but I don't even know if he really has attitude problems so much as 'not smart' problems. 'Maturity issues' is a euphemism here - he's very, very not smart.

Nice early second round pick, in any event.

Putting on 10 pounds of muscle in 3 months is pretty easy if you are starting from scratch (first time lifter) and are consistently lifting...even for a regular guy. 20 lbs for a 7 footer, with access to all-world facilities, personal trainer, etc? Sounds easy.

I think it has to do with age in this case. A still developing body combined with no stress about money, best training facilities and trainers, vitamins, proteins, and hard work is why he got those results in a short period of time.

I gained 5 to 7 pounds of muscles in 2 weeks when my girlfriend dumped me. I worked out everyday and ate at the dorm cafeteria which was a buffet.

Well the Kings had the option of selling their pick too. The Maloof were in the war room that night and Petrie asked if they wanted to sell the pick or take Whiteside, mama Maloof said take him. Petrie seriously considered taking Whiteside as high as 5.

When he speaks he doesn't sound like the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he sure can block some shots!

If he works out, and they still have Cousins, Landry and Thompson, they could be a dangerous ass frontcourt down the road.

Summer league ended what, 2 months ago? These weight things are so exaggerated, you cannot gain anywhere close to 25-30 pounds of MUSCLE in 2 months, end of story. Anyone who actually thinks gaining 25-30 pounds of muscle in 2 months is humanly possible has clearly never worked out seriously. 5 pounds of muscle in 2 months would be very impressive, 10 pounds would be absolutely unreal. With that being said, 5-10 pounds of muscle + 5 pounds of fat + being dehydrated when you weighed yourself 2 months ago + being really hydrated with a big meal in your belly when you weighed yourself today = 25 pound increase. Water weight can cause HUGE fluctuations, just think about boxers cutting for fights, they cut like 15+ lbs of water (from a normally hydrated state, not even super hydrated + big meal) just by sweating like crazy for a few hours. When I used to do landscaping, after a hot day working outside where I wasn't drinking enough water I was sometimes a good 8 lbs lighter than I was in the morning.

Can't tell if you're joking or not, but you almost certainly gained 1-2 lbs of muscle and 4-5 lbs of fat and water weight.

There is something in the water in Sacramento because Donte Greene was just officially weighed at 250+. 25 pounds more than last year:

The Kings forward showed up for his third NBA season weighing 251 pounds – 25 more than his listed weight.

And add to the fact that Greene grew over the summer. He is now around 6'11'' to 7'0''. Greene is taller than Thompson who is a legitimate 6'10''/6'11''.

Greene's listed weight is 226 pounds. And after watching a season of Greene, that's an appropriate weight for him because he looked skinny for a 6'11'' guy (I meant, 6'10'' during the season). And during the summer league, Greene is noticeably bulkier. So, I wouldn't be surprised if that's his real weight (251 pounds).
