Phil leaving the door open for coaching beyond next season?

Post#1 » by tkb » Sat Sep 25, 2010 6:35 am

ESPN wrote:"I've kind of looked at every season as the last season, especially here for the last three years," Jackson said. "It's not all that different. If feels kind of much the same."

When asked pointedly if he was 100 percent sure this would be his final season, Jackson replied, "I can't tell. Every year I like to think of going into a season and thinking, 'This is it,' and doing it the right way and putting everything I have into it, so this is just like a normal thing."

Jackson, who said he received "pretty good reports" from doctors about his health and appeared rested and eager to start the Lakers quest for a third consecutive championship, said that his decision to return for a final year was actually an easy one.

I'd love it if Phil decided to coach a couple more years.

Yeah I'm good with PJ rolling for a few too, but at some point a definitive decision will have to be made on where we go from there.

i think we're good either way, i'm definitely down for PJ coaching the Lakers into the future but Shaw is here as well in case he decides otherwise.

Phils health will say and tell it all. I give shaw some time as head man in practice and get him some experience.

This is the one area where a lockout can positively impact our organization. If Phil gets a decent amount of time off from the game due to a lockout he could easily decide to come back without us having to switch coaches.

If PJ doesn't come back, I'm liking his heir apparent more and more all the time....

I'm sure Phil wants to be the coach that helps LA get more championship banners than Boston. He doesn't say it, but I KNOW thats what he wants under his belt.

But if this REALLY IS his last year, i have a really good feeling Shaw will be ready to take over, especially adding one more year of experience under phil.

Lol while i love Phil as the Coach i think its about darn time we move on. I dont think any other coach in the league would play Errik Fisher 30 mins a game
