CB Sam Shields (calf) didn't practice and is doubtful for the game. Coach Mike McCarthy said Brandon Underwood will be the nickel, possibly followed by Pat Lee and then Jarrett Bush. "I think defensively he’s ready to go," McCarthy said of Underwood. "All the snaps he had in training camp leading up to his injury there in Indianapolis. Brandon’s ready to go."

Looks like we might finally see the 2010 debut of DE Mike Neal. "I talked to Mike Trgovac before practice, and he thought he definitely made progress through yesterday. He did practice today,
so that’s really the process I go through after today’s press conference. I have a chance to meet with the trainers, and we’ll talk about it with all the coordinators in our game management meeting. I’m hopeful he came through the practice clean," McCarthy said. Neal officially is questionable.

As expected, LB Brandon Chillar (shoulder) is out. S Charlie Peprah (quad) and LB Brady Poppinga (hamstring) are questionable. Everyone else is probable.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Semi-excited to see what Underwood can do.

Wondering if Bishop will make some big plays and/or get burned. He's kind of a wild card when he's out there on defense.

Really excited to see Neal play if he is ready to go. :D

I wonder if Bishop will even play. It wouldn't surprise me if Hawk just took over Chillar's nickel role.

I hope Underwood is ready. He looked soft in coverage in the preseason. I could see him giving up some relatively simple first downs by not being aggressive enough on routes in the 5-10 yard range.

Do you think they're gonna run a ton of nickel? I just don't look at Shaun Hill and think "Man we better drop a few extra dbacks in there".

We might not play a ton of nickel, but Capers still loves to go to it in passing situations even if the other team doesn't have 3 WRs out there. Plus, Detroit's running game is awful, so if we put them in a lot of 2 and 8's or 3rd and 5+ we'll be in nickel i would guess.

Did anyone catch Rob Demovsky on 1250 today? I heard the very end when itty bitty sparky basically summed up his two main points.....DeAngelo Williams sounded like the main topic, the other thing was Underwood appears to be the new low man on the DB totem pole.....just wondering if anyone heard all the details...

the Packers have played nickel about 85% of the time this year...being a true 3-4 guy I don't like it, but I am guessing the fact they have not played against great running games and lack of DL depth has forced this to some extent....will play alot of nickel this week as well I am guessing.

Well after Monday's disaster and the Badger game that just concluded I'm offically in a football induced depression. The only cure is to whip the Lions tomorrow. Please cure me!

If the Packers find a way to lose this game I will have to take a break from watching football all together. It will probably last about a week. :D

Great so you can add 2 TDs to the Lions since thats what anyone going aginst Bush gets. Im sure Bush some how will find his self covering Calvin Johnson and will make him accually look good. I would of waited a week before I traded Johnson of my fantasy team if I knew Bush was gonna be covering him.

Finally get to see Nance and Neal. I hope we get up big in the first half and can sub in the young tackles.

I hop Nance gets at least 15 carries today. We need to find out what we've got.

Agreed on Nance, I absolutely want to see what he can do against this Detroit Lion's defensive line.

Guys, take a deep breath about Jarret Bush, he looked exceedingly competent during the preseason and did a very good job on Dwayne Bowe over the course of an entire game (granted it looks like everyone is doing a good job against Dwayne Bowe this season).
You gotta make it sexy! Hips and nips, otherwise I'm not eating.

Impressive first drive! I like the play calling on the run plays
