once upon a time, I proposed Marion for Denver's pick to draft Nene and was ridiculed on the boards. then I wanted Boozer taken for the pick that went to Jacobson. all in the same year Amare was drafted #9 by Suns.

I was thinking about this last night. Try and get in on the Melo trade and get Nene and give up JRich. I think JRich would have value since he is still a good player and is expiring contract. Nene has this year and next year left on his contract so its reasonable. Since Hill is one of our best defenders have him start at the 2 spot. I think that would be starting 5 and still keeps our bench the same.

I'm sure the Suns FO would look into a Clark/Rich for Smith/Nene swap, and probably go through with it. We lose JRich, who we all claim to be overpaid, and Smith provides us with exactly what Rich is at a much smaller amount. We then add a true PF while clearing the glut at the SF, and Den gets a SF for the future.

Financially, we're strung out for a while with Warrick/Frye/Childress, but we have them anyways, and it's clear we want them here long term by the contracts we handed them. Smith comes off this year, so it's not a long term addition, and Nene is only on the books for 2 years, so if it doesn't work, by the time Nash is gone, so is Nene's contract. It's a win-win situation, in my opinion at least.
