Carril:

Here is a link to an article detailing Evans' shot + Carril's opinion about Evans' shot:

Here are some clips too:

It looks like Evans finally refined his shot quite a bit. It looks much, much better than last year's. Hopefully, all the work he put into his shot pay dividends this season.

You can tell by the third video he is still leaning back on his shot but it does look a lot better. Plus he beefed up even more he is gonna be a beast this year with an improved shot and even bigger body.

i'm not sure if a bigger body is what tyreke needs for the point position. i want to see quick moves, quick lateral movement and superior cardio before more muscle

Thats a thousand times better coach? He missed nearly half of those open jumpers.

He meant the whole workout in general I think. The clip was a small portion of the workout. The clip served purpose more of how Evans' mechanics is different than last year's.

He's still fading away, but his overall stroke looks much better. He's not bringing the ball back behind his head anymore. Also it looks like he's really listening to coachie, which is always good.

I don't really have a huge problem with him leaning back on mid-range jumpers. Just look at Dirk for craps sake! No problems there and he fades way back. I'd like to see him more upright on spot jumpers though. I think his main problem is confidence and consistency. It's been proven time and time again, and ugly jumper doesn't necessarily mean much. Still, he's a lot more vertical on those jumpers than last year.

It might just be me, but I think his stroke looks scarily like LeBron's....

If it ends up working out for him, then I don't see the problem. Why does EVERYBODY need to shoot the exact same way, even if it doesn't necessarily work the same for each individual player? I, for one, lean back all the time on my jumpers (but my backward lean is even MORE exaggerated), and my shot is damn near dead-eye from anywhere on the court. In some cases, a fadeaway makes your shot harder to contest, and if your release on point, you can get more arc on your shot. Hell, nobody criticizes Kobe for HIS fadeaways either.

Any improvement on his J makes Evans immediately more dangerous. I'm hoping he shoots around 37-38% from 16-23 feet this year, maybe 77% from the line and 30-32% from 3. That'd represent a big step forward and a radical shift in how people have to guard him. It's also a semi-reasonable expectation. If that jumper comes long, he's going to be fairly terrifying to defend.
