Hoops (fantasy league)

Post#1 » by Chlorpromazine » Sun Oct 3, 2010 12:55 pm

I'm playing some fantasy leagues this year, but it's not the usual yahoo leagues (roto, H2H), so it's difficult for me to find help. Maybe you guys can help me. We gave points to each player based in different categories, and then they are sumed up. My question is, with these categories... how would you rank the top 8 players?

Assists: 1.6
Off. Rebounds: 1.2
Def. Rebounds: 1.0
Blocks: 1.6
Steals: 1.8
Free throws made: 1.5
2 pointers made: 2.6
3 pointers made: 3.4
Free throws shot: -0.5
2 pointers shot: -0.6
3 pointers shot: -0.4
Turnovers: -1.6
Personal Fouls: -0.2
Technical Fouls: -1.5
Team Win: 1.0
Team Lose: -1.0

Thanks a lot!

Well there seems to be a heavy emphasis on scoring. Considering you get the most points for three's and then two's. However percentages are important as you lose points for missing shots.

Ideally my top 8 in this format would include premier scorers who shoot a good fg%. Dwight would probably be a monster since free throws made gives you points, and his fg% will net you lots of points when he hits his shots. It's really tough to rank this format, since I've never played this type of scoring.

1. Kevin Durant
2. Lebron James
3. Chris Paul
4. Dwight Howard
5. Stephen Curry
6. Dirk Nowitzki
7. Kobe Bryant
8. Dwayne Wade

That would be my guess, but three point shooters could hold a lot of value in this league. Someone like Gallinari would probably be 2nd round value. Maybe even first for all we know. It also makes guys like Kobe and Wade more valuable for team wins.

I guy who shoots one for 4 is still getting you positive points. So while the system rewards efficient players, it rewards guys who score even more. Arenas, Jackson, Ariza should all do well in this league. (Not saying they are top 8.)

Steph Curry will be a monster.

Zbo, Pau, and Love will all be strong by virtue of their offensive rebounds + scoring + efficiency.
