Quote:
Chicago Bulls forward Carlos Boozer sustained a fracture of his right hand (5th metacarpal) on October 2, 2010. He was evaluated by team physician Dr. Brian Cole and hand specialist Dr. Marc Cohen of Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush. The fracture will require surgery and Carlos will likely be out 8 weeks.

Tough luck. I hope he heals quickly.
In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

8 weeks?! Chicago will be lucky if he plays again before the all-star break.

According to the Bulls board, it happened during a non-practice day.

Maybe weight lifting, but anything else (Monta Ellis style) be a really fitting start introducing Boozer to his new team.

Yeah my bet is longer than 8 weeks. He won't be back anytime soon for them especially if surgery was involved.

ESPN said the cause was he tripped over a bag in his house and fell.

Must be those concrete blocks attached to his feet.

I just sort of have to wonder if his structural frailties was caused by becoming too muscular too fast by some sort of means that a body wouldn't be used to. Oh what am I saying, it's just a hand.

All the best to Booz. One of the more frustrating players in Jazz history, but he seems like a good guy and he really helped us out with the trade exception. Speedy recovery.

It's all good as long as he recovers in time to crush Bosh in the playoffs.

The fifth metacarpal, the bone in the palm below the pinky finger, is something you break when you punch a wall or something. I've done it before. If you don't know how to hit properly your pinky knuckle is usually the first thing that makes contact.

I broke the same bone doing a handstand, my hand flipped over while I was walking and I basically punched the ground while I was doing it. I only had a cast for about 4 weeks, Boozer must have really hit something hard.

On a side note, can you imagine the reaction of Jazz fans had he been on our team this season and this were to have happened, especially if we had just given him a new contract. Thank god we aren't dealing with that right now.

I'm sure apartments are cheaper in Salt Lake, so he would have had space to put his bag somewhere.

or since he would have already been in salt lake, he wouldn't have needed a bag in the first place.
