Why would the Timberwolves sell the ad space to the Twins?

Further raising the stakes is that Target Center's naming rights are up for renewal in 2011. The Timberwolves control the naming rights and are locked into the arena through 2025.

"The value of the naming rights would be severely impaired and diluted if the Timberwolves ... did not have exclusive rights to all additional advertising," the lawsuit said.

Yes. The Wolves have the right to sell advertising on the Target Center. We know this.

The Twins should buy the naming rights for Target Center. That would be hilarious. The Timberwolves playing at Twins Center.

The Timberwolves are selling the ad space to Samford.

If the Twins offered more than Samford, why wouldn't the Timberwolves sell it to them?

As long as it's not offensive or cause some moral/legal/social issue, I'm sure the Wolves would have sold that ad space to ANYONE that was the highest bidder. If the Green Bay Packers came in with a million more than Sanford, the Wolves would have slapped up a piece of cheese on their building. It's all about dollars.

That's why they would have sold it to the Twins if they outbid Sanford.
