Week 5: Vikings 20 Jets 29 Final

Post#1 » by Rich Rane » Mon Oct 4, 2010 12:01 am

Minnesota will be coming off a bye week so their healthy players will be well rested and will have been practicing for us for two weeks. However, Brett Favre is showing age, Percy Harvin has been inconsistent, and Favre's favorite weapon last year, Sidney Rice, is still out. Adrian Peterson looks to have found his legs as he rushed for 145 yards against the Dolphins in Week 2 and 160 yards with 2 TDs against the Lions in Week 3.

It doesn't look like Shaun Ellis's knee injury was too severe as he was walking around on the sideline in the win against Buffalo. We may have a trio of much needed players returning. Santonio Holmes returns from his suspension as he'll add to a solid receiving core of Edwards, Cotchery, LT, and of course Keller (anyone else get pumped when they think of that receiving core?). Rex Ryan said he was hopeful Revis and Pace will also make their returns.

Now...I want this game. I REALLY want this game. I want us to go after Favre. I want us to put enough pressure on him to make his life flash right before his eyes. I...GO JETS!

AP needs to be stopped, and the rest can be taken care of.

Cromartie had a great game today, and he can surely take care of Harvin, and with Revis back...

We need LT, Sanchez, Greene, Edwards and Keller to keep up the stellar play and we can play it fine.

AP WILL b stopped. Favre will get dropped and the Jets will win. Vikings are not as good as percieve and Favre is playing like how he played here. That game will be soo crazy because now Sanchez has all those weapons against a Vikings secondary that wasn't really good. Revis will be hungry and he will drop Harvin on his island. Cro will go in too. This game is gonna be easier than I thought. All I'm worried abt is Slauson v. Allen. He's really gonna have to step it up if he wants Sanchez to live.

Hopefully with Revis back, he'll be regulated to zones and blitzes.

It looks like the Vikings are close to a deal for Randy Moss. Could be a different game if they trade for him, especially if Revis isn't 100%. Then again, Cromartie looked good against him.

At the very least, Revis is practicing. I'm not sure at what capacity though.

As far as Rex Ryan is concerned, CB Darrelle Revis (strained hamstring) is good to go Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings. The final call belongs to Revis.

"I think the doctors and trainers, everybody feels really comfortable with where Darrelle is at right now," the New York Jets' coach said Thursday after practice. "At the end of the day, he has to feel confident he can go out there and play, especially at that kind of position."

Revis, who has missed the last two games, increased his practice load Thursday, but he still was listed as "limited." During the open portion of practice, Revis seemed to be moving well, showing no lingering effects.

"He looked pretty good," Ryan said. "We're certainly hoping he's ready to roll."

Revis didn't speak with reporters after practice. On Wednesday, he was less definitive than Ryan, saying he wanted to wait until the end of the week before making a decision. Revis, concerned about re-injuring it, said he won't play unless it's 100%.

The Jets have a number of options:

1. Sit him another week.
2. Play him in a part-time role.
3. Start him, but limit him to one side of the field, as they did in Week 1. (They took that approach because he was coming off a long holdout and Ryan wanted to limit the wear and tear.) In this case, he wouldn't follow a particular receiver (Randy Moss?) all over the place.
4. Start him and let him play as per usual.

If Revis doesn't play, Drew Coleman will get his second straight start. Ryan likes what he saw from Coleman last week in Buffalo, adding that rookie Kyle Wilson -- the starter in Week 3 -- is "a little snakebit right now."

Favre looks terrible under the pressure we're hitting him with. Cro just did a great job handling Moss as well.
