Nate Robinson would average about 140 points a game in the WNBA.

nope.

have you watched the celebrity all-star game? justin timberlake, sue bird & becky hammond all appear to be on the same level.

watch an entire wnba game once. its like 2.5 hours of consecutive facepalms.

Terrel Owen regularly dominated these celebrity allstar game that features WNBA stars.

I mean seriously.....

ok, maybe we're all being chauvinists and sexists and females can really play in the NBA and we're all incorrect.

or maybe the NBA is worlds ahead in terms of skill level and athletic ability required compared to the WNBA, and any female that would try to play in the NBA would be a colossal failure.

just sayin.

Also, maybe Griner can work on those punching skills and look for an MMA contract. How about a Griner vs Cyborg match.

On topic,hell no!
I play in an italian crappy league, dunno if you are familiar with promotions and relegations but mine it's like division seventh(not even professional),and since i can barely dunk i'd be one of the best athlete in the WNBA lol

Dumbest comment ever made on RealGM?

Shaun Livingston is 185 lbs. That means possibly the weakest player in the NBA weighs more than her, not too mention being stronger, faster, more athletic, with a longer wingspan and a higher vertical. Shaun Livingston would dominate Griner in the post.

450 of the best basketball players in the world play in the NBA, out of 3.5 billion males.

Could Brittney Griner be in the 99th percentile of males with regard to basketball ability? Possibly. Is she in the 99.99999987th percentile required to play in the NBA? No. Not even close.

no i definitely got the point, as you can tell if you read the 2nd sentence of what i wrote. i just felt like pointing out the total inaccuracy of what you said. The point was obvious, its just the way you attempted to present it was weak, at best.

All IQ tests show is who's good at taking IQ tests (which are often culturally biased). They're about as scientifically valid as phrenology.

yea I think most of them are just testing your mathematic ability, not really creativity and other regions of 'smarts'. Also if you have good math at school or do some tests before you take mensa IQ test it's obvious you will score more. I'm not sold on the idea of IQ tests tbh.

I love women and I love some women sports like volleyball, tennis and I love me some college softball.

But never in my life have I sat down and watched an entire WNBA game. That is womens hoop at the highest level. And it's just not entertaining to watch.

I agree that the WNBA players could not hang with the high school McDonalds All American in an actual game.

Even elite high school boys are too quick and too strong.

Mike Wilks who has been a 3rd string pg that has bounced around the league for years would crush the WNBA.

And Candace Parker really? Think about what you just said and slap yourself across the face.
She is 6'4" You think she is going to be able to keep Russell Westbrook in front of her? You think she could even get off a single shot without it getting swatted into the 10th row?

There is no way she has the quickness to create space to get her shot off.

This thread is about as (Please Use More Appropriate Word) as Sarah Palins baby.

But I love me some women.

I don't think you understand just how ridiculous NBA players are at basketball, or how much physically disadvantaged women are. For example, the world's fastest 100m time from a woman is 10.49. 10.49 is about what a good male high school sprinter would get.

I mean, Brittney Griner is a professional basketball player. How much more training would she be doing? You're talking about someone that is 11 inches taller than Nate Robinson, yet weighs 5 lbs less. She has no perceptible basketball skills that would translate to playing with bigger, stronger, faster, more talented players.

I do realize, and I am also well aware of men's genetic edge when it comes to physical tasks. But basketball is not a competition for the fastest runner or one with the greatest bench press. There are examples of NBA players in the league who are not any better athletes than this girl who are successful and even more incredibly gifted physical specimens who are not elite. If athletic ability alone was enough, Desmond Mason would have been the best player in the league for a lot of years. So unless you are arguing that women cannot shoot, dribble, and pass the basketball as well because of their physical disadvantage, it is not enough to refute my point. Someone like Steve Nash is not any more athletic than this girl and even in his 30s he is a top 5 PG in the league. Also keep in mind that women/girls don't even train nearly as much or as hard as men/boys do. Girls AAU have about half the amount of events as Boys and are demanded much less hours every week.

Again, could she be a star? No. Could she play? Absolutely.

Steve Nash isn't more athletic than her? You're joking right?

No he is not. He is clearly more skilled, in fact he is more skilled than 97% of all basketball players male or female, but not more athletic. Next you guys will tell me a 60 year old man is more athletic than any female athlete just because he's male. Keep in mind I already said she would never be a rotation player on a good team, but to say she wouldn't even have a shot in hell at making it when there are people like Chris Quinn in the league is just crazy.

I cover all types of sports and have for awhile now. Females athletes do not, I repeat, do not get the same type of training as male athletes do. Its not even close. Of course males already have an advantage physically, but its even more pronounced when you compare the training they get. The average male varsity high school basketball player gets as much training if not more than a WNBA player. They are demanded much more time in the weight room, more in practice, and do more strength and conditioning and the list goes on and on. They even get more opportunities to play from the start, like I said look at the AAU websites for the two sexes. The majority of female athletes don't ever even reach their full athletic potential unlike males because of the lack of attention paid to it, not to mention underlying factors holding them back such as their social life off the court being ruined if they do reach their full potential.
