AK-47 wants to re-sign? True or False?

Its being reported that Kirilenko doesn't want to leave the Jazz and will give them the first shot to resign him. I've been saying since last year we should keep Kirilenko, let him quietly expire, and try to resign him at true Market Value.

The question is, does he really want to resign? Or is he playing "the game" that guy's like Boozer are so good at playing? Will he not realize his true market value and reject a Jazz offer to go looking for a bigger deal? Or do you think he really likes it in Utah and wants to remain a key piece for us, albeit a 4th or 5th option offensively?

I really hope he wants to stay and we can get him for a reasonable contract. Thoughts?

I think he wants to stay... if the Jazz offer him enough, he said it is a business and he will see how it goes after this year. So to my understanding its just who ever wants to pay him the most since he considers it just to be a business.

I don't see why we wouldn't want to resign him. This shows just how awesome AK really is...he has played his heart out for us and even through all the crap with his career going down the drain from the system change here and he still wants to come back and play for the Jazz. That tells you something about the kind of person he is, I love this guy. Bring him back.

It kind of seems odd to me. He seems to complain here and there about the team and his role but he wants to stay. Some times that doesn't make sense to me. I would like to have him back at a better price.

Would he still be willing to comeback, if we trade him?

I'd resign him for an MLE type contract for 3 years. Like 3yrs $6-7M per year. By then we probably wont need him if Hayward develops well, or we could exercise a deal again.

No, an extension can be for less money. Richard Jefferson signed an extension of his contract with the Spurs in the off-season, for substantially less money per year......

I think, there's no reason for the Jazz to rush in this situation....... Let's see how he performs this year...... Of course, he may be talking about an etension now because a lot of players are concerned about the new CBA that might be agreed to in the off-season, so they are trying to lock in their contracts.......

If that's the case, AK needs to give the Jazz a significant discount...... Just like Jefferson did for the Spurs......

AK has said in the past he would be willing to re-work his contract and play for less money so I don't see why we couldn't give him an extension for significantly less money and have him take it. It sounds like it all depends on wether or not the Jazz want him back.

He is paid like a superstar and he is only a great role player... it's time to be paid like a role player and try to play as a star.

He has more money he can spend, so I don't think money is a issue for him or Masha.

For some reason I think his comments are genuine. When interviewed on media day, he made it very clear that he is a very loyal person, has only played for 1 NBA team and only wants to play for 1 NBA team, and that his family is very happy in Utah. Coming from a guy like Boozer, I would completely doubt any truth to it, but I think AK has learned a lot in his time here. He hasn't complained about his role in a long time, and has come a long way from the guy that cried in the locker room.

If he still wants to "get paid" at this point in his career, then I am completely wrong about him maturing at all. He has been paid better than most NBA players ever will be, and it would be really nice for him to give back some of that to the Jazz in the form of a much cheaper signing after this season. He certainly isn't worth anywhere near what he is getting payed and hasn't been for a very long time.

Yet the answers were probably not as cliche-driven or "obligatory" as sports fan are used to... I think he's got probably a real desire to stay put in SLC, which of course it's just another obligatory sport fan forum guess, because nobody really cares about what I'm thinking about Kirilenko's true intentions or desires... lol at me... probably I should go to work again... mmm.... nahhh....
