Chicago Bears @ Carolina Panthers 10-10-10 Noon FOX

Post#1 » by The Explorer » Tue Oct 5, 2010 3:31 pm

As a fan, I'd like to see Cutler play, but for his safety I think they should hold him out. Why rush him back behind that line only to get beat up again. Let Collins or Hanie start.

This Martz offense is becoming increasingly frustrating. It is no wonder why Singletary in SF and Marinelli in Detroit booted him out. The guy hates running the ball and gets his quarterbacks killed. Seven run plays in the first half down 0-3 is just inexcusable. Either he needs to change his ways, or Lovie Smith should fire him after the season.

The offensive line is another story. Angelo has his work cut out for him again. There's not much you can do about this until the offseason.

Nobody is signed up for this game so we'll just make it the game thread.

Steve Smith is unlikely to play for the Panthers on Sunday so this is a huge break for us although he's not the same guy that killed us in the 2005 playoff game. Dwayne Jarrett was also charged with a DWI today so they might be down another receiver. This is a game we should win.

After Steve Smith and Dwayne Jarrett, Panthers have just 3 rookie WRs on roster (David Gettis, Brandon LaFell, Armanti Edwards)

Devin Thomas is being shopped by the Redskins, maybe Panthers trade for him.

If we can stop the run this game, we win. Rookie QB and 2 rookie WR's starting? They're going to pound the rock all game long.

Cliff Levingston would go with 9 in the box, and that's not even a joke. Make the rookie QB and receivers prove they can beat us over the top and focus squarely on their two outstanding backs since their offensive line is a good one that can open holes.

There's no reason to hold Cutler out of this one if he's good to go. Carolina might have the worst pass rush in the league, so this is a good chance for him and the offensive line to get some confidence back.

They were applying pretty decent pressure on Brees last week. They will not get many sacks, but they can pressure with guys like Charles Johnson. WIth the garbage o line, I wouldn't be so confident in protecting Cutler.

On the Packer front, Nick Barnett is out for the season with an injury similar to what Urlacher suffered last year. Think the Packers are going to slowly drop out of the NFC North race without a run game and now Barnett.

Packers are way too solid to drop out without Barnett. But the injuries are starting to mount for them, that's for sure.

GB drop out of the NFC North race? That won't happen.

Cutler is out for the game, which really sucks. We should still win though on the back of our defense.

Why is Collins starting over Hanie? I guess we'll see if our running game can actually get something going this week.

Glad Cutler is out for his health. I just hope Martz doesn't try to do too much with Collins. He needs to start calling run plays at least 50% of the time. But I suspect he won't, he's been pass happy his whole coaching career.
