Official Thread - Wizards at Cavaliers Preseason (10/7/10)

Post#1 » by pineappleheadindc » Thu Oct 7, 2010 3:34 am

.

What: Wizards (1-0) at Cleveland (1-0)

When: Thursday, October 7 - 7:00 p.m. EDT

Where: Quicken Loans Arena - Cleveland, OH

TV: None

Radio: 106.7 The Fan (DC radio team)
WTAM 1100 (Cleveland radio team)

-------------------------

Coming off of an exicting win versus the Dallas Mavs, YOUR Washington Wizards make a a trip to Cleveland and a match-up with the Lebron-less Cavaliers.

The Cavs are coming off of a Tuesday night win vs the Charlotte Bobcats. Cleveland was led by G Daniel Gibson's 18 points and F J.J. Hickson's 17 point/9 board performance. Former Wizards captain, F Antawn Jamison had a sub-par game, tallying only 4 points, going 1-9 on his FG attempts in 21 minutes on the court.

YOUR Wizards victory on Tuesday was keyed by Andray Blatche's 22 points and rookie G John Wall's 21 points and 9 dimes. Newly acquired F Yi Jianlian came off the bench to score 10 points and pull down 10 boards in 21 minutes of play.

-- Will Flip feature the three guard starting line-up again?
-- Will F Trevor Booker, F Kevin Seraphin, C Hamady N'Diaye, and F Adam Morrison see some court time after DNP-CDs in the last game?
-- How will Antwan Jamison play following a bad game?

I really want to see 5 things.

1- Obviously Blatche vs AJ. Dray was great the 1st night and AJ was horrible so I know he will want to play great this game against his former team.

2- I would also like to see Dray & Yi vs Hickson. Alot of people are high on Hickson

3- Is this Wiz team different or is it another typical DMV sports team that cant handle success? I want to see another good game and not them feeling so good about themselves that they look like crap and make everyone do a complete 180 on them.

4- I want to see Gil be more assertive. Dont get it twisted, I love the way he passed and this team will be great if they continue to move the ball but I think we all want to get a glimpse of how healthy and how close to the old forum that Gil really is.

5- Was the Kirk Hinrich thing an experiment or is Flip truly considering it? If he starts that same lineup tonight then it will be interesting. On the other hand, alot of coaches start a million different lineups in the Preseason and some guys just sit out games anyways. We play the Bulls the very next night so nothing will shock me regarding the lineups in this one

I hope they have a stream for this game like they did with the Dallas game. I want to def. watch this one, I just want to see Gil & Wall stomp on the Cavs, though Mo "No Show" Williams most likely will not play so that's a shame.

Wall, Gil, Kirk

Yes he is considering it. He said so.

What other choice does he have until J Howard is ready. Nick the brainless ?
AT would be an option but would you choose AT over Kirk ?

He wants his best players on the floor. That is Wall, Gil, Kirk and Dray for sure.

McGee and Yi are battling to show who is next in line.

McGee had 6 blocks and 7 rebounds 13 pts 5-7 FTs
Yi had 10 rebounds and 3 blocks and 11 pts

Both played well but McGee did more damage in total IMO. 7 FTs is awesome. 6 blocks is also.

So expect to see Wall, Gil, Kirk, Dray and McGee start.

With LeTravel gone, I officially have no gripe with the Cavs or their fans. We should be united in dislike for LeBronious (and maybe snicker a little when they're not looking that they have Jamison on the books for 2 more years). Peace be unto you, Cleveland!

It's hard to feel bad for someone making $14 million. I'm sure he can wipe away those tears with a benjamin.

Agreed. I hated LeBron, Damon Jones, Mike Brown, and (to a lesser extent) Varejao. Three out of the four are gone; at this point, the fight's over and we can all move on.

I don't. I think its a healthy dose of karma for a man that constantly portrays himself one way to the media but constantly mails it in on the court 50% of the time. Maybe if he ever gave a damn about defense, his career wouldn't have been marked by so much losing.

I expect that to be the starting line-up again. I think Yi should probably be the first off the bench. I think we may see Thornton start at SF against teams with a big-offensive oriented SF, but I don't see any reason to abandon the 3 guard line-up. I also think one of the starting guards has to be on the court at all times. A Hudson/Young backcourt is asking for trouble.

Are we going to chat it up again? Was it hands who posted the new chat room? It holds more than 10 people...saw at least 17 people in there the other night.

Another key match-up
Seraphin and Booker vs. DNP-CD. I hope they win this game. It would be nice to get some idea of how they look in an NBA game-like situation.

I don't. He wanted out, he got out. The guy has a good attitude and is media friendly, but he's a lazy player on the court.

Agreed. It was fun to pile on to the Cleveland fans while LeBron was there and they acted like they were personally responsible for the "success" the team had. (Kind of like the feeling I have for Red Sox fans. Hate those guys...) But once he left, the scales fell from their eyes and they could finally see what we saw all along.

Hell (Cleveland) hath no fury like a woman (sports fan) scorned. Their hatred of LePunk actually exceeds ours, so I tip my cap to them. And really look forward to the Q celebrating the first time they beat Meami. That will be sweet.

Heeeeeeeell Nooooo! They were the biggest set of douches around. They were Lebitch's living embodiment. We've been telling them for years that he was a dick, and they followed in suit behind him and licked his schlong. You kiddin me, the abuse we took from them. Serves them the f**k right. Couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch. Their tears and anguish sustain me. I'd laugh in the face of their misery and bust out a John Wall dance stark naked with pelvic thrusts!

^- My single greatest moment as a Wizards fan.

(followed shortly thereafter by the LeBron tap and missed FTs which is one of the many worst moments)

Oh, and a couple of other things.

-- Don't expect links to (an illegal) stream. Nobody is televising the game - even locally in Cleveland. Accordingly, there will be no video to stream. (Note the Admin's announcement about streaming links at the top of the page).

-- I didn't put a chat link in b/c there was no television. But Hands did a good job of establishing a stream link last game. If you'all are up for chatting while listening to Dave Johnson's radio broadcast, hands - can you help some guys out and get a chat room ready?

Thanks
