Knicks: 2nd best team in the East?
As a Knicks fan for the past 10 years, I think we've finally turned the corner and are legitimate contenders in the east. Let's look at the other teams in the east.
The Hawks are overrated and mediocre with no inside presence. They also have no more financial flexibility after giving JJ an Alan Houston like contract.
The Bulls just lost Boozer and Rose doesn't look like he'd going to be that much better. Other than Boozer their other additions won't make that big of a difference. Noah is also vastly overrated and now overpaid.
The Magic are definitely getting worse. Vince Carter isn't even a starter in this league anymore. Rashard Lewis is a terrible contract and had a terrible year, and isn't exactly young. Jameer Nelson isn't the same after the injury and I think Dwight has reached his peak in terms of offensive potential and contribution.
The Celtics are very deep. Deep of old people. Shaq and JO? Those two had negative value to their respective teams last year in both the regular season and post season. Perkins is out till february. And Ray Ray is a grandfather in this league. KG has lost his legs and can't keep up with the elite PFs of this league. Pierce is still decent but still not what he once was. Rondo is a very good player and will keep the Celtics in the middle of the east. I see the team finishing 5th or 6th.
The only real threat to the Knicks from the east are the heat. They've added great players but I still don't know how they will mesh together especially in the halfcourt. I'll give them the nod at the top, but I really do think the Knicks are the second best in the league.
This team is young and has so much potential. Gallinari and Randolph are loaded with potential. They are both extremely versatile and young and will finally have a chance on this team to break out. We also added one of the best bigs in the league in Amare. At the point we have one of the most underrated guards in Ray Felton.
And if we get Carmelo Anthony this year, I think we can rival the Heat for the best team in the league. What are your thoughts?

oh god...
I thought at first you meant our division, and then I realized you meant the Eastern conference.
I'll be satisfied with a playoff berth.
also I have a feeling OP isn't a knicks fan, just another troll

I've been in Queens for the last 10 years. I've been a die hard fan for the last 9 years. I've been loyal even through the bad times, but we're finally headed towards something special.

You might be headed for something special but it won't be this year.

Negative. Knicks aren't even top 6 in the east.

The Heat have the big 3. The Knicks have the big 4 of Stat, "Magic" Randolph, Dirk (Gallinari), and Duncan (Mosgov). When they get Carmelo without giving up any players it will be the big 5. Add Chris Paul and you get the big 6. Right now the Knicks are the best team in the NBA. Add Carmelo and you get the best team in the last decade. With Paul the Knicks easily become the best team in NBA history. Its over for the rest of the NBA.

So I am going to entertain your thought process for a moment. Just for fun.
You started like this:
This is a quote that sounds like you might be talking up the Knicks.
Then your rational is :
EVEN if you were on to something and you are not , no offense. But you are doing less of talking up the Knicks and more downgrading your competition with small and irrelevant jabs.
Make no mistake though, the Knicks are not in competition in East to contend at this time.

Are you guys even reading my rationale? Is there anything incorrect from what I said of the competition? Please point that out. Last I checked Shaq was turning 39 and Vince Carter forgot how to jump.

Re: Knicks: 2nd best team in the East?
This is amusing.
There's no question that the Knicks are worse than Boston, Orlando and Milwaukee.
It's debatable whether they are superior to Washington (provided Arenas stays healthy), Charlotte, and Chicago (Boozer isn't going to stay injured all year).
They'll make the playoffs this year, assuming health, but they are very far from being the second-best team in the East. They aren't even necessarily the second-best team in their DIVISION, if the Nets start to play really well with the additions of Favours, a healthy Harris and Troy Murphy (and the continued improvement of Brook Lopez).
They have some serious promise, though, it's possible that, with MAJOR contributions from certain guys, they could pass Milwaukee this year. Here, I'm talking about Randolph, Morrow and Felton. It's unlikely, though, given that they're going to be much worse on defense than both Charlotte and Milwaukee.
