Yeah, usually I'm on the side of the fans, but this? This is indefensible. I almost wanted the Rays to come back just to spite the fans that left.

Joe Maddon believes he is the ultimate manipulator.....and some times he is.

Shields was chosen over Jeff Niemann who has been rocked in his 5-6 starts after returning from the DL. Niemann finally pitched well in his final start of the year, but Maddon chose (in his mind) the lessor of two evils.

I would have gone with Niemann, because even his worst starts are pretty much what Shields does every start.

Rays take game four and tie the series.

Game 5 has Cliff Lee and David Price on the mound.

Should be very interesting.

Side note- The Rays suffered through 3 prolonged slumps during the year, and each time when they broke out of it....they went on dominating runs for several weeks. Hopefully, this is the beginning of another run after a slump.

Rays have taken the tarps off the upper deck.

Attendance should be about 43K.

couple things about tonight, the umpire jeff kellogg is known for a wide strike zone which favors pitchers

cliff lee's last start w/him at home resulted in a complete game win (4-2) when he was still with the m's vs. the rangers (i remember this game, didnt help we had alot of our backups playing)

rangers have also won the last 4 road games w/kellogg behind the plate

http://rangersblog.dallasnews.com/archi ... ellog.html

and one other note about cliff lee, when he pitched on long rest last year in the playoffs, here are the results: 3 games, 26 innings, 1 earned run, 15 hits, 25 Ks, 0 walks.

this is why we didnt start him on short rest (which he's never done) sunday

come on rangers, dont break my heart again, i can only take so much :(

Hopefully, the law of averages catches up with Lee tonight....Go Rays.

That claw and antlers stuff is super gay, but the Rangers are easily the most entertaining team in the playoffs. The vast majority of my family was born and raised in Texas so I have a tiny soft spot in my heart for them. I'd love to see them in the Series and as much as I hate the Phillies, a couple Halladay/Lee matchups would be epic.

Rangers gave the Rays a dose of their own medicine last night. It was painful, but congrats to the Rangers.

Cliff Lee was fabulous....awesome performance in the clutch.
