I wanted to bump this up for a reason.

I was going back thru pages like (late 60s thru like page 71 or so) of the Arenas for Vince or Dump for Cap Space? thread. And for some reason, the convo got totally sent off track by someone (JWiz?) talking trash about my boy Miller and how he got his mod-ship.

For the record, I don't think it was because of any snitching (though it's a funny story to try and repeat in order to facilitate the big lie technique). But to be honest, I don' think I was in on it so I can't take credit either. All I remember is that I think I was out on vacation and supposedly Donkey and others decided to go all "ESPN boards" here. Then Miller was mod.

Not irked at our mods, just a global thing I think:

Tired of all Redskins discussion being shunted to the green graveyard that is the Football forum.

We've long had vibrant interesting pigskin conversations on this here board, running to hundreds of pages. [* link below] But there, sadly, nada. I think it is fair to have football conversations among diehard basketball fans, with the understanding that those conversations would not be had otherwise. Yes okay the 'global' powers-that-be would prefer to start a vibrant community of discussion among football fans, but what happens instead is that it asphyxiates entirely a conversation that might be happening here, or even --worse-- siphons fans away from this site entirely.

Unless it somehow violates terms of service, I think it's fair to keep a single thread on this board for Wizards fans who also want to blather semi-coherently about football as well as the sport they actually know something about. Long tradition suggests it's a useful thread to have and ought not to be censored in an attempt to 'suscitate a nice-try-good-idea board that sadly doesn't draw flies.

Hrmph. That's my grumpy bastard take on things.

Lyrical did the right thing. The admins have banned the use of baseball, football or hockey threads from the NBA boards. And why wouldn't they? We have new boards for them where RealGM hopes to foster more of a diverse sports crowd.

I honestly could not care less about having a football thread. But this isn't my site. They spent the resources creating a separate football section and would (rightly or wrongly) like that to be the only avenue of football discussion.

Doc, I'm not disagreeing with your overall point. For whatever reason, people do not want to make the extra click to get to the football boards. Having a thread on this forum is probably the only way people are going to talk about the skins but this isn't a Wizboard Moderator decision (as you pointed out). I have a feeling that, eventually, the higher ups will come to the conclusion of eliminating the football/baseball/hockey boards.
