No. Let the dude be the first Durant. He's not Kobe. He doesn't have the killer-instinct. Durant is a joy to watch, but I'd never compare him to #24.

Re: Will Durantula be the next Black Mamba?
Durant is and will likely always be a cross between Kobe and Duncan...
He will have an impressive career but he really hasn't proven anything yet. It remains to be seen if he can lead a team to the Finals and then lead them to a championship. Right now he has no idea what that takes... Duncan had Admiral to show him and Kobe had Shaq et al... So Durant is already a little behind the 8-ball as far as having what he needs to get to Kobe level.
Personally, I think he could be the next king of the NBA but part of me thinks he might lack the intensity and killer instinct it takes to do the multiple back-2-back championships thing that he'll have to do to be mentioned in Duncan/Kobe discussions.

Why do people always have to compare players as if that somehow brings realism and justification to their arguments? Basketball is such a unique art, and comparing Kobe to Durant is like comparing Da Vinci to Monet. It's an insult to the both of them.

Durant can't play D and can't pass if he improves those things he'll become a great player you have to be an all around player to be a great so he has a lot to work on but he's got great potential

It's a sad day on planet Earth when someone thinks you're being 'too deep' and 'too serious' referencing two very well-known and HIGHLY influential artists. Maybe next time I should call it a day and just stick to referencing Justin Bieber and Lady ****.
Here:
no wai. kobe is teh bestor. durant play no d, even in the playoffs, but kobe play dat d in the playoffs. look at him in game 7 of teh finals last year. supah d. and lets not even talks about the diference in dah playmakin skillz. until dat durantula play sum d and learn 2 pass, hell never be like dat mamba. time and youth are his biggest allies. if he uses both wisely, then yes....what people thought of kobe to jordan is what people will think of durant to kobe.

Re: Will Durantula be the next Black Mamba?
He's the next one in line that is going to break the mold...
Durant @ SG 6' 10" is just crazy, he's a freak.
He's dangerous more than anything because of his size and range and more importantly an unblockable shot, totally different players, not sure why'd you compare him to 24.
He's going to face double teams this year, he's going to have to adjust.
Your swinging and missing on a few things. Kobe has things KD likely doesn't have or at least to the same level... Inner drive, killer instinct, work ethic, old school philosophies.
I mean KD is on twitter all day, while Kobe's shooting jumpers. Guys like KD, LBJ, Wade roll outta bed and are just gifted athetes at their core.
I don't see Kobe the same way he has to work to be the best. He has the best footwork in the game, the best post game, the best closer, 1001 shots he has mastered, you don't get that stuff from Mom & Dad you get that from blood sweat and tears.
Dude has ankle pain, knee pain, finger pain, and the only adversity these young bucks have had to face is getting their butts kicked by the same dude that's experienced all that they haven't 100 times over.

What i'm tryin to say is .. Is he the next in line to take over the league. Kinda like MJ took over after Magic. And the way Black Mamba took over after MJ.

He needs to learn when you have put everything in to win. You still need even more. It is that time of learning and loosing games in the playoffs that teaches him what it really takes to win. That focus and pride that comes with time and effort.
When your tired and hurt and have nothing left. That is when he needs to find that something extra to push forward. When he does that. He will be a champion.

I think Durant has a little Dirk in him.
