Don't really have a problem with the expression of confidence...he just needs to make sure that his mouth is not writing checks his skills can't cash.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

This is why I wanted cousins. The guy wants to be the best, he has a bit of a swagger and he is going to go out there and try to prove what he is saying. Reminds me a lot of how shaq has always handled himself.

Immaturity? This is just small smack talk and its what the NBA needs. Its not like he went at Dwight Howard or anything.

Dont really see anything wrong with it... It's good for Cousins (since it'll keep him motivated and engaged) and it's arguably good for the NBA if these two can live up to the hype and have some sort of rivalry.

If Cousins were calling out say Dwight Howard, Andrew Bogut, or Brook Lopez that would be problematic... But calling out another rookie who he went head-to-head against numerous times pre-draft?

No problem there.

The real reason is that the Nets already had a solid center in Brook Lopez, and didn't need another one.

I look forward to them two matching up against each other come regular season. I doubt we will see too much of it since I believe Brook will be guarding DC for the most part, but none the less, I like Cousins approach and confidence to prove why he is the better player.

After living in Mobile and Birmingham in Alabama and then in Louisville, Ky., Cousins thinks Sacramento will fit him well. Big cities, he said, ”are too much for me.”

I hope he stays true to his word...

You kidding? I love this. This isn't immaturity, this is passion, this is fire. This is something the doubters said he didn't have - he was apparently "lazy". As long as this actually translates into Cousins WORKING HARD to prove he's the best, fire/passion is a wonderful thing.

If he's said something like "I don't know why they passed on me, it hurts my feelings" or "I'm gonna punch Favors in the face," that's one thing. But having a desire to show he should have gone higher? That's great right there.

But I still see why Nets took the PF when they don't need a C. If Cousins should be mad at a team, take it out on the first team that in passing you made a obvious mistake - AKA Minny.

To me all of this talk before he has even played a game is getting kind of old. First, we had all the comments about how he wants to get his own rewards for himself and the rookie of the year award and now he's sounding off about how he wants to prove hes better than Favors. It seems like he's been doing a lot of thinking about himself and not much about the TEAM. Haven't heard him make any comments about wanting to beat teams that did better than us in the West last year or how he wants to lead us to the playoffs. All his comments are personal and not team oriented which is a concern for me.

I'm a Timberwolves fan, and I was really upset that we passed on Cousins in the draft. In light of what I read about what he said, nothing has changed! I love that kind of attitude! Sure, sometimes it will get him in trouble, and to fans of other teams it sounds arrogant, but that's the kind of attitude that most winners have.

Sometimes I think rookies should be seen and not heard. This is what is wrong with the NBA and why people can't identify with it. I don't give a rats ... if Cousins is pissed about his draft position. Let it go. If you need to use that as motivation we have a problem.

Worry about things you can control! A veteran should be in his ear right about now saying STFU!

Any kings fan who has a problem with this needs STFU! First off, the comment he made about wanting to win ROY was in an interview when he was asked about his personal goals, setting ROY as his goal is DMC being a realist recognizing thats the highest personal award he can receive so he is setting the bar high (notice he is not arrogant enough to say he wants to win the MVP!) . Second, rookies make comments about other rookies all the time in almost every sport. When Tom Brady was drafted in the 6th round the first thing he said to patriots owner was this is the best decision you have ever made and i will win you a superbowl.. arrogant or confident?

DMC clearly wants to be the best, as kids growing up and kids in college the way you rank yourself to other players is when you go in the draft. Calipari said it on draft day DMC is the kind of guy 10 years from now will remember you passed on him and will try to get 50 on you. didnt have a problem with that then, dont have a problem with that now. DMC has a chip on his shoulder. bout time the kings have that again! anyone who doesnt like that must have really enjoyed the past several years

Warriors fan here;

I really wish we could have grabbed this kid....You guys should be very thankful he's here and teaming with Tyreke.....Who I wanted the previous year.

You guys have a very bright future ahead.

LOVIN' this kid just like Tyreke!

Humble to the home fans and teammates - where it counts.

All BUSINESS on the court with plenty opf confidence and swagger but not a negative attitude!

Bulls fan here.

I think DC will be the best player to come out of the 2010 draft, because of this kind of passion. The sky is the limit for this kid.

Why not just show it on the court?

And why is Cousins so obsessed with another rookie? Why not focus on the long road ahead of him and improving his skills so that he is ready to play against the big boys on the other 28 teams? That's what he should be concerned about.

I'm not trying to troll, I just honestly believe that this behavior is not that far behind Micheal Beasly's when he said - 'I don't want to be Rookie of the Year, I want to be MVP in the league in my rookie season. If I set my sights any lower, then I am doing myself a diservice." (roughly quoted)

Maybe it is just me, but WHAT BENEFIT is it to anybody to say crap like that. Just do it, and then let others say it about you.

Where is Micheal Beasley now?
