white version of steve urkel moment can happen to any hockey players in this league, it's common, don't make a big deal out of it.

Heck even Edmonton is 2-0, everyone is probably wet dreaming about their teams winning the cup.

Pens lost their first two; what a bunch of scrubs.

http://www.thestar.com/sports/hockey/ar ... lies-bench

Is it safe to say he'll be another Tlusty/bust? Maybe some players just can't handle the pressure of playing in Toronto. Or maybe he handled the demotion too personally. They should've let him in from the start, but the management probably thinks their **** doesn't smell after a 2-0 start.

Only in Toronto can 20-year-olds with handful of games played be called busts.

Are you serious? Its his second game. Hes still getting used to things. He wasnt all that good when he was sent back to the OHL at first either. If hes playing like this 20 games from now, then I would be worried.

Tlusty was actually a pretty good player in the AHL. Kadri hasnt even produced yet.

Only in Toronto....

Anyways, Jeff Finger is on waivers. What a terrible deal. Hes AHL bound.

no, jason blake was a terrible deal. finger is just a pretty bad deal.
media's made it out to be worse than it actually is. he's not getting superstar money.
perhaps they should focus on the cap hit that Darcy Tucker's buyout is causing. or how much Kessel got paid last year and for this team to finish so low in the standings AND to not have a draft pick to show for it.

Finger would be a fine D-man on any other NHL team. fine, meaning 5-7 guy. Burke has a hard-on for building his D and goes limpdick when it comes to trading for up-front talent. the leafs are stacked with #3-6 d-men. stacked. two of those are injured, one is heading to the Marlies and 1-2 are playing for the marlies. trade these guys for some up-front talent.

I hear what you're saying but who do we deal? I don't think anyone would take Komi or Finger, Lebda and Lashoff were brought in this year, Beauchimin(sp?) is our most reliable defensemen, Kabs has a no trade clause, Phaneuff is the captain, and then there is Schenn and Gunarrsson who (hopefully) are our future on D.

This is the first time in a really long time that we actually have a good defensive core...and depth! I dont see us going a full season without an injury on the backend and hopefully we won't miss a step b/c we have someone ready to step in. I think it's good he's being patient about making a deal b/c I see that as being what went wrong in the Kessel deal...if he only waited two more weeks...there was no rush to make the deal b/c Kessel was injured...so if he's getting low ball for some his D, then might as well wait and see if the pot sweetens.

I couldn't even begin to tell you how much I disagree. While Blake was a 'terrible deal', Finger trumps that by a large margin. Paying Finger 3.5 million dollars a year to be a 6-7 defenseman is horrendous. You can go out and sign your 5-6-7 defenseman for 3.5 million combined. The guy is making as much or more as players like Alex Edler, Kevin Bieska, Kris Letang, Braydon Cobourn, Chris Phillips, Brent Burns and Nick Shultz (to name a few). Who would you rather have?

It was an embarrassing contract then, and it still is now.

Not to mention the fact that he was a healthy scratch for most of the playoffs and he got a 733% pay raise.

Jason Blake scored 40 goals with the Islanders and at the time, it looked like a decent deal. I remember watching Hockey Central and TSN and the guys said it was a decent deal. He had a couple of seasons where he had 50+ points too

7:30pm. First game on TSN and first road game. Staal is out and Oprik should be out for the Penguins.
"I definitely knew he traveled, but I didn't know they were going to call it. That was one of them situations in which a great player made a move...and they called the call. And I was like, 'Oh, man, there is a God.'
